Having nothing better to do this afternoon I watched the bottom 4 clash between Crawley and Shrewsbury, despite 8 goals the quality of football was low. John Marquis scored 2 for the Shrews, or Markeese as the commentator called him she was very poor and did not know who had scored Shrews second goal until the players made their way back to the halfway line and she could see his name on the back of his shirt, much of the time you could not hear what she was saying but she appeared to know little about the game. When a player went down she said he had a hamstring injury but it was obvious he had cramp. Jay Williams picked up his customary yellow card and there was also a very annoying drummer, I hope we don't let them into Sixfields.

I also caught some of the lunchtime game between Chesterfield and Notts County and both teams looked better than the 2 division 1 teams. I did not realise that Chesterfield had our former loanee GK Max Thompson on loan and he was at fault for Notts first goal when he was rooted to his line and a cross was headed in from about 3 yards, he later saved a penalty but Notts scored from the loose ball. Michael Jacobs came on for Chesterfield and missed a good late chance to win the game. Chesterfield have several older players and over 30's include Jacobs, Ollie Banks, Paddy Madden , Will Grigg and 37 year old Mike Jones.

McWilliams was again on the bench for Rotherham and was not brought on, he has hardly played for them, I wonder if he is regretting his move.

And who did Nathan Jones select to have a cameo off of the bench, and become Charltons 1000th professional player? The salary thief himself. Old habits die hard, as proven when he was yellow carded 9 minutes later.

Player-coach apparently, on a short-term deal.

Player-coach apparently, on a short-term deal.

Judging by some of those "tweets", not a universally popular decision!!

Other Cobblers exploits this weekend included.....

Michael Smith scoring a cracker for Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night at Portsmouth, Harry Smith on the scoresheet for Swindon at home to Gillingham, Danny Rose scoring for Grimsby at home to MK, and Nicke Kabamba for Barnet and Ian Henderson for Rochdale in their clash at The Hive.
Shaun McWilliams was not in Rotherham's 18, Marc Leonard came off the bench for Birmingham as did Tyreece Simpson for Stevenage. Sam Sherring turned out for MK Dons and Manny Monthe stood firm in the heart of Oldhams defence against Junior Morais and Dagenham.

One each yesterday for:

Kamamba - Barnet
Henderson - Rochdale
Marquis - Shrewsbury
Horsfall - Stockport.
Smith - Wednesday.
The salary thief came off the bench for Charlton in the 83 minute.
Ivan Toney has apparently scored three times this season for Al-Ahli, but I cant read their match reports properly.

Also, Marvin Sordell came off the bench yesterday to help his side see out a 2-1 win in the FA Cup against some no mark team or other.

Safe to say McWilliams is down the bottom of the pecking order at Rotherham. No doubt they will look to offload in January.

Would you have him back!?

Nah. He was never the same player after he came back from injury and obviously can't cut it at a team at about our level. I didn't really get the Morton loan from Salford Huh either. Obviously never the same player we had on loan 3 or 4 years previously.

It was time for him to move on.  If he can't get in the Rotherham team not sure we need him back here

Perhaps he can do a job for them in League Two.

Well Sean gets a start against League Two opposition tonight and scores within 5 minutes. Then again, it is lowly Bradford.

Four ex-Cobblers in the squads, Sam Walker and Vadaine Oliver both on the bench for the Bantams, Hakeem Odoffin and McWilliams in the Millers starting lineup.

Junior Morias scored for Dagenham and Redbridge as they dumped AFC Wimbledon out of the cup.

Harry Smith scores goals number 6, 7 and 8 for Swindon. How we could do with a striker like that.
Danny Rose scores Grimsby's 3rd goal.
Jon Joe O'Toole scores for AFC Wimbledon in a very rare start.
