RE Toney it’s not always that straight forward in the lower divisions? Goode has signed a 4 year contract at Brentford, when was the last time we or anyone else in division 2 signed a player on a 4 year contract? Hypothetically suppose we didn’t allow Toney to go to Newcastle and he has 12 months to run? He cops the ar5e and doesn’t sign his new contract? He sits it out for 12 months or however long he has left goes for nothing and gets a whopping signing on fee? The alternative is to sign players on longer contracts with all the risks to that attached? Not saying that’s what happened, just pointing out it’s not always that simple?
I think because of Toney's age offering him a contract would guarantee a fee, probably about the same as we got for him.

You might be right, different rules around young players?

Toney is only 24 now, so the club would have been entitled to compensation from Newcastle (including built-in add-ons), even if he had walked away from signing another contract at NTFC. The whole thing was a debacle that was allowed to happen because Cardoza was desperate to claw back some pennies. As for Toney: f*** him! I can understand him leaving, but signing for those wife beating bunch of turds up the road. Disgraceful! He doesn't even qualify as a Northamptonian, not anymore.

I’m getting the impression you’re not always as jolly as you make out? Agreed though!

Bang on. Hopefully four or more teams will go bust or not see out the season. Safe.

If not four, I can see at least a couple, which should make our survival from relegation easier...
