I do agree about Marshall & I wonder if he could also adapt & fit into the role Sam Hoskins plays, but I think we are also forgetting how good Michael Harriman's form has been - he was increasingly reminding me of the likes of Jason Crowne toward the end of the season just with his sheer consistency & flexibility.

I suspect Curle may see Marshall as more of an impact player from the bench & who knows, he might just be right.

                     Arnold

         Racic    Bolger    Horsfall

Harriman                              Martin

              Watson   Missilou

                  Hoskins

          Ashley-Seal   Korboa

Not sure if Nuttall is ready, will probably start instead of Korboa if he is.

Game has the feel of a must win before we have even got going, Mills missing is a massive blow. Fingers crossed we can pick up some points.

Bold teams choice from curle IMO with the attach, rest of the team is as expected but despite Warburton and korboa showing a bit of potential in pre season I’m sceptical about this front 3 but we shall see and I hope too be proven wrong

Marshall plays for Mills.
Hoskins still out as is Nuttall.
Korboa, Warburton, Ashley-Seal all start, with Watson and Missilou.
Caleb, being courted for a pro-deal by Aston Villa and Norwixh makes the bench (dunno if something like this will help the tribunal fee)

Arnold in goal
Rakic, Bolger and Horsfall at the back
Harriman and Marshall wing backs
Missilou and Watson in the middle with Korboa, Warburton and Ashley-Seal up front.

Hoskins on the bench, as well as Chukwuemeka

Mills, Ballinger, Adams, McWilliams, Pollock, Smith and Nuttall all miss out.

So, has Chuks now signed a pro deal with us or are we trying to add value if/when he goes?

Probably trying to help bump the price up, think tribunal takes squad/league appearances into consideration.

I'd guess the latter, maybe we're convincing him to stay if we offer potential game time. May have always been on the bench regardless though based on the injuries.

If he's not under a professional contract there will be no tribunal will there? Still on a youth contract so we'd be entitled to compensation based on our academy status and how long he's been with us. Playing games or being on the bench at this stage makes no difference. The compensation kicks in when he goes to a new club and makes some appearances.

Looking forward to today’s game. Shame Mills is presumably injured as he’ll look to be a key player this season but I think we can get a good result. Ricky looked bright against Cardiff and I’m excited to see how him and Benny work together.

I thought he was on pro terms, you are quite right if it is only a Youth contract still.

Nuttall’s been one hell of an acquisition, been here two weeks injured.

He is on a youth contract, he's apparently turned down a pro deal.

It has been reported that he rejected the our offer of a first professional contract to him...... Having said that i've just looked at a few more new articles for other players and it appears that youngsters do make moves and compensation is paid.....a 16 year old Ben Chrisene went from Exeter to Aston Villa.

Calebs youth contract has run down.....reported that it expires/expired this summer.....hence the offer of the Pro one....which he has rejected.

A quick scan through the line ups in other games today sees that Callum Morton starts on the bench for Lincoln, Jordan Turnbull on the bench for Salford and Charlie Goode was an unused sub in Brentfords defeat to Birmingham. Iven Toney played the full 90 minutes for the Bees, Andy Williams starts for Cheltenham, Vadaine Oliver only on the bench for the Gills.

I really, really want to be positive about our chances, but if I'm honest, in over two decades supporting the club I think this is the most downbeat I've ever felt going into the opening day of a league season.

This isn't helping Roll Eyes Grin
