Hopefully the cob's will ask for trial crowd's for next Saturday's home game so at least some will be able to attend especially Lee Geary who's fantastic support has been curtailed by covid.

According to Radio Northampton they have applied for next weeks game. Only 10 games are selected though, split between the leagues. Also, depends on what Boris Johnson says in the next few days I suppose.

When they said 1000 maximum I was expecting them to be dotted around the ground testing the various entry and exit paths, not crammed into one corner

They were across one stand, not into one corner. It look very well organised in fact.

I think you’d learn more operationally from having 1,000 in one stand. People 10m apart across 4 stands doesn’t tell you a lot as realistically you know that’s feasible.

I just think the timing stinks. When you have the chief medical officer is using words like ‘critical’ experiments like this just seem dumb. Even ignoring the potential risks it’s the message it sends out, I just think seeing a thousand people in a football stadium is going to make others more likely to ignore rules.

Agreed. The sooner all anti-maskers/anti-vaxers are together in a football stadium, the sooner the rest of us can get on with life.

Yeah OK, but, we can't all hide forever and when we do come out the virus could still be there waiting for us. At the moment Covid is the 24th most likely thing to die of in this country, Matt Hancock says the death rate will rise but there is a lag. If that's true why not have a national lockdown immediately, it is irresponsible not to, unless he's having us on? I would love to be one of the 1000 allowed into Sixfields even wearing a mask.

With Northampton on the Gov Covid watch list and cases nation wide it is unlikely Northampton will be selected/allowed.. ps to Cobble Wobble, what's an anti-Vaxer

While Lancashire, greater Manchester and Liverpool face tougher lockdown rules Blackpool doesn't even though its rise in infection rates are higher than some of its neighbours, why? because it has a different council and isn't controlled by Lancashire. Meanwhile in the good old US of A, Dallas Cowboys performed in front of a socially distancing crowd of over 20,000 paying clients, do any of these rules make much sense?

That may well be correct but thats why this season should not have commenced. There is no commercial logic for games behind closed doors. If you take your view then there should be no football at any level below the championship until we either have a vacine or a cure

Going to a football match is no different (safety wise) than doing many of the activities etc that we are allowed to do. Indeed, its far far safer than many of them, that cannot be debated.
The way I see it, is that there is an economic argument versus a health and safety argument in all of this. Striking the right balance is totally subjective and will always cause debate.
Much like when 'key workers' were told they were ok to work; then all of a sudden every sod was a key worker! Well, you know what I mean. However, those 'key workers' still didn't necessarily only do essential work, did they...
Personally, I would rather have a little bit of everything than all of certain things. For example, Id rather that the pubs were told to shut at 9pm, if it meant that theatres (I don't ever go to theatres btw) were allowed to open in the way cinemas are.
Circa 2500 rattling around in Sixfields, all socially distanced outside of their bubbles, would be far safer than going into a busy pub. Or going to a holiday resort that is rammed because more people are travelling to UK destinations to avoid probable issues when returning from foreign resorts.
The football industry (and sports industry in general) employs 1000's of people and is economically worth a lot of money. At the minute it feels that its being shafted to allow other places to operate near to capacity. There isn't a fair balance, in my view.
