Going to a football match is no different (safety wise) than doing many of the activities etc that we are allowed to do. Indeed, its far far safer than many of them, that cannot be debated.
The way I see it, is that there is an economic argument versus a health and safety argument in all of this. Striking the right balance is totally subjective and will always cause debate.
Much like when 'key workers' were told they were ok to work; then all of a sudden every sod was a key worker! Well, you know what I mean. However, those 'key workers' still didn't necessarily only do essential work, did they...
Personally, I would rather have a little bit of everything than all of certain things. For example, Id rather that the pubs were told to shut at 9pm, if it meant that theatres (I don't ever go to theatres btw) were allowed to open in the way cinemas are.
Circa 2500 rattling around in Sixfields, all socially distanced outside of their bubbles, would be far safer than going into a busy pub. Or going to a holiday resort that is rammed because more people are travelling to UK destinations to avoid probable issues when returning from foreign resorts.
The football industry (and sports industry in general) employs 1000's of people and is economically worth a lot of money. At the minute it feels that its being shafted to allow other places to operate near to capacity. There isn't a fair balance, in my view.

There’s a massive difference between going to the pub and going to a football game, when do you get a pub with 2500 in it, take a look at the 1000 or so a Salop, there’s probably a dozen without masks on singing etc crammed into on half of a stand, it’s fcuking crazy. Nearly a million people have died of COVID-19 and the second wave is always worse.

Good. As much as I long to get back to Sixfields, I don't want to go back until it is safe to do so, not just for me but for those around me.

Plus until we can, at least, accommodate all the STH, its going to lose money for NTFC.

How any club outside of the Premiership is surviving this , I simply don’t know . It will damage the game beyond repair at our level both short term and longer term . Very worrying for the fabric of football in this country .

Its going to lose significant money if football or indeed amy other sport continues behind closed doors. We must close all sport, all bars all resteraunts all theatre and cinemas and all holidays until there is a vaccine or a cure. It is no use relaxing any measures until there is a solution, however long that takes. Universities should not be open. That form od Education can be suspended for 2/3 years. In addition I would ban all masks in a non health enviroment. They only offer minimal protection IF worn correctly. If therefore you need to wear a mask it is by definition an unsafe place. Banning them would encourage more caution and less use.

Hopefully the money in from last season's cup run and the Goode sale, coupled with club's modest spend in the transfer market of late, will at least give NTFC a fighting chance.

We probably have, but I believe that the club should retain that funding in case the service that has been paid for is not delivered and the club has to reimburse either partially or fully that ST money?

I doubt that there will be refunds issued this time around. Everyone knew what they were signing up for this time around and the iFollow match coverage is being offered as compensation in the short term.

I think that the small print would need to be scrutinised and a few or maybe a lot of people possibly don't have the opportunity to use the iFollow match coverage?

Any sane person or businessman with any sense of responsibility would not spend any more money in the transfer market this season . Unless you have deep pockets as a chairman , you are literally gambling with the club’s future . I would be surprised if season ticket holders or anyone else witness a game live all season .

I am not sure which thread this fits in so thought I would add it in here. I saw today something on twitter that explained how the Ifollow money is divided currently. The home team gets all the revenue from the streams they sell for home games and the revenue from the first 500 streams purchased by the away side.
So for the smaller teams in the league who may not sell more than 500 streams for away games or sell just over they are going to get 0 income or close to 0 for each away game. Also the games in which you would expect sell out away ends dont benefit much more now, as most of the revenue will be going to the away club.
Another demonstration of how difficult it is going to be for so many clubs.
The article was taken from someone at Colchester i think. They said that from their home game against Bolton on Saturday that Bolton made more than they did. Colchester would normally take in around 54k in gate receipts but will get around 8k. Bolton will take in about 14k from their sales.
Just highlights how big a fluctuation it is on a game by game basis. I cant see how a lot of clubs can survive.

There are no refunds this year, unlike last when we had season tickets and the season was curtailed this was unforeseen, this year however you purchased your season ticket in full knowledge of Covid-19 and behind closed doors games, hence no refunds.

Indeed Manny...
I bought our season tickets out of blind faith...with the full knowledge that I may not be using them anytime soon, and with a chance that they would not be used at all.
The only thing thats currently p1ssing me off with regards to this saga (other than self pitty bitterness!) and how we've paid for something that we cant get much value out of, is the i-player and how EFL are doing their upmost to block us from linking up our devices to the TV. That is plain wrong. I know from the other thread that you've managed to work it out, but Im convinced its down to the random combo of devices and tv's and we all have. Some its ok, others it doesn't work.
Either way, its clearly been blocked. That should be addressed prompt so at least every lower league football fan can watch their team on a big screen and make the most out of this sh1t show!

Agreed. I see Steven Evans has been questioning when a hand out is coming. No doubt he has already blown more than his budget!
