Congratulations to former Cobblers loanee Dominic Calvert- Lewin on being called up to the England squad. He's certainly started the season well at Everton and it all began at Sixfields !
Well done Dom from all NTFC fans.

Following in the footsteps of Kyle Walker......both made their league debuts in loan spells for the Cobblers and they are now in the same England squad.........

Sixfields.....breeding ground for the stars!!

I said within a couple of appearances Walker was a future England player, however I'll freely admit I didn't expect the same from DCL; clearly a decent player but I wasn't sure he'd cut it at Championship level, never mind at Premier League or international!

Fair play to the lad though, he's always one of the players I look out for amongst the scorers each week.

Wilder certainly had an eye for talent - Calvert Lewin, James Collins and John Marquis that year on loan.

Remarkably harsh - even I noticed he had talent/quality. I question seriously if you actually saw him play!

I did. When he returned to SU I questioned whether he’d been recalled by them or sent back by CW as his goals from starts for us was impressive.  We seemed to prefer the tried and tested at the time though - Richards and AN other

FFS man, just because someone on this forum has a different opinion than you, doesn't mean that they don't go to games, haven't seen a particular player in action, or don't legitimately support the Cobblers !

He looked anything but a top quality player with a ill timed foul at Cambridge away that got him sent off.

Sadly you get a riposte like this by this individual on pretty much every single thread going.....

That wasn't a foul, it was a karate kick.  Grin

When he was signed I remember there was a lot of unhappy people as he was the replacement when Toney left, which was understandable as he was just a youngster from sheffield united in the division above. But straight away you could see his talent, held the ball up well, could win headers and knew how to finish. Quality player.

Just looking at the raw stats he made only 7 league starts and came off the bench a further 13 times.....so its fair to say that he wasn't a regular for us in League 2. In the 2-2 draw at Newport he was replaced by Alfie Potter (FFS!) and from then on had lost his starting place in the side.....he only scored one goal in his last 11 appearances, and that was the winner against Northwich in the FA Cup.

Would it be fair to say he started off like a house on fire but soon faded......?

Can I just ask , why do you continually wind people up by questioning their level of support ?
Many people would agree that whilst DCL was a prospect , he didn’t pull up trees when he was with us .
FYI I have been a regular supporter or season ticket holder for over 45 years both home and away . The only time I didn’t go regularly was when I played myself on Saturdays for many years .
Please stop questioning people’s loyalty
