not much difference - but better with him.

There in a nutshell is the issue
McCormack was excellent in league two for us because he was a league one ability player.....
Of course given his pedigree he would make a difference....

Fast forward and we have a squad that should contain a couple of ex championship players and a fair sprinkling of experienced league one players....

We have gone for unproven players at this level and it shows.

Marshall looks fine at this level
I wonder why?

Itís not rocket science but KC and self confessed football man KT havenít grasped it yet.

Who knows who is available centre back wise to save us but as far as proven higher level forwards go I feel we need a Danny Hylton or Jayden Stockley type centre forward to do the business.....

Instead we get a defender from the non league , a youth player and a released league one defender for the year.
We also fail to sign one single striker who is proven at this higher level....

Is it any wonder we are odds on to go straight back down?
Paddy power will probably be paying out by Christmas.

Bungle - looking back at last seasons stats with and without McCormack. Firstly I have to correct my statement that he only featured in 15 league games which I gleaned from wiki. They do not include the play off games so he made 18 appearances from the 40 games (37 played before cut off + 3 play off).
His average playing time over these 18 games was 61 minutes and I believe he never completed a full game as his highest minutes played in a game was 90 so presumably substituted for the added time. In 2 of the games he was only on for 3 and 9 minutes.
Over the 40 games we won 19, drew 7 and lost 14 - win % 47.5. In McCormacks 18 games we won 9, drew 2 and lost 7 - win % 50.0. So overall not much difference with him or without him.

Thanks for the info WSO - I daresay that the 2.5% improvement was vital to us in achieving a playoff spot.

Everbrite - prior to the play offs we had won 17 of the 37 league games, win % 45.94. In McCormacks 15 games we had won 7, Win % 46.66 so a minimal difference.
What I would say is although the stats are similar we miss his leadership and the respect he would have had from his team-mates. You cannot expect to have that for the midfield players that come in from Oldham and Fleetwood or expect them to be immediately barking orders to the players they have just joined, respect has to be earned.

I was comparing your last set of figures which showed a diff of 2.5%. However the comparison is hardly relevant. The example of 17 and 15 games is probably more realistic. Still think the decision to release McM and Oliver for that matter was correct; of course assuming both players are replaced adequately!

Thatís just the point though Evers old chum, they havenít been adequately replaced, not Oliver or Turnbull and definitely not Goode. Those players were the spine of the team and gave us our character and pattern of play.

How much freedom would Dembele have had with McCormack snapping away at him? Iíd have given Missilou that job on Saturday. Where he goes you go.

He can't man mark two players. He was tasked with man marking Szmodics - not very successfully either.

That's what Keith said after the game (and Ferguson), then because it wasn't very successful he changed it at half time bringing on Watson.

Buy this player, buy that player, pay more wages blah blah blah. When will the fcuking penny drop? The singularly most important criteria for this season is staying financially solvent. The smart and indeed only option is to come up with a financial plan and stick to it. Not perhaps what many supporters want to hear, but there is little chance of us going down even if we get hammered every game? Make no mistake this season is the biggest single challenge football has ever faced and I reckon around half of clubs had gambled we would have supporters in grounds by the end of October? Most clubs were on their @rse before Covid and many simply do not have the resources or access to them to ride this out, that is a fact. Alternatively, hit the panic button and self destruct like many dimwitted chairman and owners probably already have? We ainít getting supporters in the ground anytime soon and if the Premier League donít come up with a rescue plan itís goodnight and god bless for who knows how many clubs? Buy no more players, pay no more wages and off load any that you can right now should be the mantra of every supporter on here? Clubs are already making noises they have a matter of weeks left, please please try and understand the situation football is in?

I don't think McCormack was mobile enough to man mark Dembele and it did not work with Missilou. But Missilou and Sowerby bring greater mobility as when a player had gone past McCormack he had not got the pace to catch them.

I think there will be a bail out from the greedy fcuking Prem, they want to grab control of the premier league and in return will offer a bail out to the efl... no one will go pop.

Paddy power will probably be paying out by Christmas.

If KT decides to keep his powder dry who can blame him? His assets are the Club and perhaps soon enough some land so needs to use his loaf how he manages the finances and therefore the Clubs future . Now you are reduced to vicious sniping at KC's transfer policy plus the endless digs at KT. It would add some credibility to your missives if you got some of your 'facts' at least partially correct. Please clarify this statement  'Instead we get a defender from the non league , a youth player and a released league one defender for the year'.
I know that the pandemic may have a debilitating on people but you should should rise above this and create some constructive positivity .

To be fair from what I e been reading today Manny the entire EFL is up for it so you may be right? A drowning man is going to grab the first lifeline that comes along? It will be bad news for football generally but they wonít give a toss about that and frankly why should they? No point in worrying about it if youíre about to go under? The fans of the top clubs donít seem keen though, not that thatís going to matter?

Granted, but £250m isn't a great deal when spread amongst 72 EFL clubs. Especially when the allocations will be based on which Division you are in.  You are right with the drowning man analogy but it isn't as good as it should be and that many are championing.
And it's like the P@@h Chairman said, the majority of EFL clubs were not run as a going concern before the Pandemic, it'll be new money chasing the old into the ether, never to return.

although it sounds good in principle - all the monies should be used to funding those clubs that are running as a viable business - not bailing out / supporting clubs that constantly run at massive losses.

I agree, but any sort of financial gift will be taken like a shot with little thought to the consequences when staring into the abyss? Letís be honest, the decision making process at a lot of EFL clubs is appalling, so I donít expect an attack of acumen and considered evaluation anytime soon?
