Another big test for the team tomorrow with Charlton Athletic coming to town.
Like Hull City a few weeks ago they were relegated from the Championship last season and have some big named players in their squad.
I wonder what team the 'mysterious one' will come up with for this game.

It's certainly going to be a tough test. Interestingly a number of player who we were linked to over the summer have signed for Charlton. The likes of Ryan Innes and Omar Bogle were both mentioned in the transfer thread at one point or another. If you want to hear the Charlton perspective then you can listen to Addicks fan Louis Mendez on The Preview Show, a brand new weekly podcast from Danny and I on It's All Cobblers To Me. Charlton in a decent little run of form, they have won their last two games and kept clean sheets in their last three. They have won on the road at Swindon (EFL Cup), Crewe in the league and on Tuesday night at Blackpool. Ben Purrington who had started all nine of their senior games this season will have to sit out after picking up a red card in that win. Marucs Maddison could make a return after injury and another former Posh player Connor Washington is their top scorer with just two goals. Former MK man Chuks Aneke came off the bench to score the winner in midweek.
Just 5 goals scored and 5 conceded in their 6 league games so far.
Only two meetings at Sixfields before, March 2017 saw over 7100 fans go home after seeing a 2-1 Cobblers win thanks to goals from Michael Smith and John-Joe O'Toole,a different story in March 2018 though as the Valiants cruised to a 4-0 victory, Shaun McWilliams and Sam Hoskins are the only survivors in our squad from that day, a day which saw us bring on a fascinating trio of subs, Gboly Ariyibi, Hilderberto Perriera and Boris Mathis!!

Sam Allison reffing this is in his first season in the EFL and this will be his first Division 1 game. So far he has not used his cards much, averaging just 2 yellows per game. He is the first black ref since Uriah Rennie retired.

Reading the Charlton forum I think we should be honoured to be on the same pitch as them. Comments such as this forum will go into meltdown on saturday night if we get beaten by a side like Northampton and their best player would not get onto our bench. For God's sake who do they think they are, Barcelona? Unfortunately they appear to be getting a few players back from injury and although Purrington is suspended most don't think he should be in the team anyway. In 6 league games they have kept 4 clean sheets including the last 3 games. However they have not been prolific scorers with 5 for and 5 against. Charlton have used a 4231 system with 2 defensive midfield players in front of the back 4 which probably explains their defensive record. We need to start keeping some clean sheets - would be good for the house keeping.

Good little essay on Charlton - perhaps pride before fall?

Please don't start Smith. I can't handle the hoofball and going 2-0 down before KC changes the team as the game is already over. But why oh why do I get the feeling he'll start.
Oh and if by chance he starts with the strongest team. Please oh please don't change it at half time and sit back in defence Would have thought the countless times he did that in league 2 he would have learned.

I’ve got a bad feeling that he will start with Smith, which will do my blood pressure no good whatsoever. Smith is utterly useless and against a quality defence it will be pitiful to watch.

Not expecting anything against a very decent team tbh but ffs don't start with Smith!
Attack like we did in the first half v Swindon for the whole 90 minutes then we might sneak a draw...

Solid, yet unadventurous vs long ball. Not going to be a classic I reckon. Bogle vs Bolger will be interesting, apparently Innis has been good in the air for them, so I'm hoping Curle has clocked it so we decide not just to aimlessly hood it and lose the aerial dual over and over.

Bang average club, always have been always will be and that makes them beatable all day long. That’s the trouble with spending too long in Indian country, you spend too long around the camp fire smoking stuff and talking sh1te.

To be fair, I don't get that impression at all reading through the forum. The meltdown comment was made by someone suggesting that the fans tend to go OTT with results, like all fans, and there's like 3:1 of people talking it up as being a tough game that they shouldn't take for granted vs it being an easy win. More enjoying the split reaction on the town itself (it is a bit of a s***hole in the town-centre, but only we are allowed to say that about it, right?)
Ref seems penalty heavy, they seem divided on whether their top scorer is any good (Washington), and they've correctly highlighted that we tend to concede a lot.
