Didn't happen. I was in the North that night and while he might have been booed, like any other high profile player at Sixfields is, what he's alledging simply didn't happen.

I was at that game and although I was in the west if the whole of the north stand were making monkey chants I would have heard it, so agree it didn’t happen.

Same for me. If the north had been chanting in unison as he says I would remember it.

Didn't hear anything from the East that night either. I've often commented that I've never, ever heard ANY racist chanting from our fans, home or away. I'm not saying we're all saints and I've heard isolated comments here and there but mostly from elderly dickheads who haven't adjusted their language for the modern world.

I can't comment on this particular instance, because I sit as far as you can from the North stand. As it happens, by design What I will say is. In all of my RECENT years of following the Cobblers, I have only once heard one example of racism, and that was dealt with swiftly by both the stewards and those around the guy. However. I am electing to omit comments that are routinely made to Welsh visiting supporters, if we are being purists on this..

Yes I was there ......I certainly didn't hear anything. I was with a couple of Spurs fans and I am sure they would have commented at the time . Sol Campbell....why say such a thing

I only went to the County Ground a handful of times so I'm talking really about the Sixfields era. I've no doubt there was plenty of racism flying around in the past, as there was at all football grounds. And the Welsh deserve all they get, like the French.

I can always remember that video of Exodus Geohagon getting racially abused by a couple of Port Vale fans while he played for them, and that was less than 10 years ago, so it definitely happens. I was not there at the time, so it's impossible to comment really, but not really implausible to think that, in a quiet ground compared to what he was used to, if a group of two or three people were doing monkey chants at him when he got the ball might seem loud to him and might not be registered by most of the fans in attendance.
Probably not the whole stand doing it though, sounds like an exaggeration.

I don't remember anything during that game and I was sat North End of the West. There must be a recording of the match somewhere would be worth the club looking at it and seeing if there is anything in what he said. I personally have only heard racist comments a couple of times during the sixfields era and they were dealt with straight away and people ejected.

Ever wondered why you are not a well liked man in football Sol ? I was there and heard nothing of the sort . Like others have said , I have not heard any racist comments at Sixfields or away games , unless it refers to the respected travelling community that grace our parklands upon occasion .

There was at a Bury game some years ago by a lone supporter towards Bury player manager. As soon as the perpetrator realised he was getting direct attention he simply fled the stadium! That was the game we had to win with their goal keeper coming for a last gasp corner nearly scored too!

Had this discussion with my friend when we saw the article. Was there that night in the North Stand and although it was a while ago, I think we'd have remembered. Possible that an individual or small group was responsible but glad to hear that others heard nothing too which hopefully debunks the "whole stand" or a much bigger group at least. There will always be a minority but as long as the majority act, it will hopefully become less and less common.
I have heard one instance of racism supporting NTFC, and that a vile drunk individual (cobblers fan) at Wembley v Bradford. Lucky to just be moved on, and not sparked out.

Always remember that game at Luton going thru the Muslin area greeted by hostile stares but we had a strong police presence. At the game the support sang somewhat gleefully ‘ England’ to jeers from some Luton support! Bit of a woke experience

I was also in the North. And I agree, it didn't happen! Wasn't Chris Freestone playing for us that night? I don't think racist chanting has been an issue at this club for many, many years - certainly not since the Hotel End days, and certainly not in (even moderately) large numbers. Bloke's delusional.

Racism is, of course, totally unacceptable, but intentional false claims of racism are equally unacceptable. I wasn't there, so I don't know the rights and wrongs in this case, but if some people know this story not to be true they should speak out, both to defend the name of NTFC and to stop distasteful and provocative false claims.
