The thought of Horsfall and Bolger in the middle Is frightening .
However , maybe just maybe a back 4 without zonal marking might see them flourish (!!!)
Sheehan at left back is a waste but until players return from injury we are left very short in those full back positions , particularly after Martin embarrassed himself last week .
I am not sure Holmes is fit enough to start wide yet and he is better suited behind the front man .  I would try Roberts there in an attacking role and Holmes behind Rose .
As we all know , Hoskins will play whatever !
And the last line of your post sums up Curle, stubborn and unable to admit he’s wrong.
The constant playing of Hoskins is very frustrating, OK play him behind the front two, which for me is his only place on the pitch where he is effective, but Curle moves him around the pitch like a chess piece, playing him as a central midfielder is bizarre when there’s Missalou and Watson sitting on the bench.

Fraser Horsfall is the man in red. Sheehan in blue & the man going to the player is Bolger.

Three central defenders too close together, drawn to the ball leaving a massive space to run into. Watson then fails to go with his man. Shocking defending.

Horsfall is ball watching. Harriman is covering the danger from the right. Adams is jogging back leaving the left CB having to cover. The 3 CB's not working as a unit. Half hearted pressing by Bolger. Pretty awful defending exposed in the simple picture.

I thought Sheehan has been a left back for virtually all his career hasn't he ?

I honestly think Horsfall is worse that Racic. Although the Accrington performance screamed of a defence that does not know how to play as a 3. although sheehan has been a LB most of his career, the Accrington game showed he now runs as fast as molasses, I would leave him in the centre if I am honest.

That is correct . The problem is the centre backs also have to be quick in a 3 because the wing backs push on. Martin found that out against Oxford and he ended up playing as a left back because Roberts was up the pitch and far far away .
Sheehan as a pure left back could get roasted . We need Mills and McWilliams back quickly . Maybe we shouldn’t have let Cameron McWilliams go . I know someone prominent at the club thought that was a big mistake .
