Piss poor management. Somehow found ourselves in the lead then sat deeper and deeper with 11 men behind the ball for the last 60 minutes.

We really don't have the centre backs to try and shut up shop, We were very lucky that didn't give another goal away.

Has there been a game where Bolger hasn't given possession away or a clear shooting chance ?

I thought we did ok, defended well 2nd half, would have lost that a few games back. Curles needs to consider what Hoskins brings to the Team, he has rightly dropped Watson, I think he shoul£ be doing the same with Hoskins, not creating anything and his passing is Abysmal. At least he’s been dropped from free kick duty.

Sheehan is a known freekick specialist, why was Hoskins ever taking them with him on the pitch ?

Gritty performance, thought Rochdale were a good side. The substitutions did nothing but hand the initiative to Rochdale. Taking off probably our best 2 players is never going to be a good idea. Saw it last season with McCormack and it’s hardly ever improves our chances? Pleased with the work rate and commitment in the first half, but struggled more and more as the game went on. However, 4 points from 2 away games in 4 days is a great return, so really happy with that, and well done Harry Smith.

Agree with you in the end a hard-won point. We really needed Holmes and McW to play on for 90min. Thought Bolger did ok as did Horsfall; Sheehan outstanding and Mitchell made a very good last-minute save.

Another game of two (distinct) halves.
Marshall, mom imo!
As said, Dale certainly not any whipping boys!

We got the point that most on here said they would be happy with before the game. The fact Rochdale had 73% possession means very little as they came away with the same number of points as ourselves. I said this after saturdays matches with plenty of teams having the bulk of possession and losing, Portsmouth won 4-0 with 30% possession. The way we play I expect us to have less possession than the opposition.
Cannot blame KC for the substitutions, did anybody realistically expect McWilliams and Holmes to play the whole game?.
If we had not given away another cheap freekick we could have come away with an undeserved win and this is something which has bugged me from last season as we give too many needless freekicks away and invite presure on the defense.

We gave away far too many free kicks tonight and it seemed inevitable they would score from one of them. The amount of space their No 22 Baah had in the second half was criminal, he looked a good player though. We maybe should have kept Ricky on to get us up the pitch although he was running out of steam a bit. We have been playing much better since he came into the team.

I agree about Hoskins he contributed nothing tonight and should have been replaced by Rose.

When you only have 27% possession you inevitability end up chasing the ball for long periods, the players who don’t look fully fit to me, then get tired and give away lots of silly fouls.
The best form of defence is attack and you need the ball for that!

One of those games where you're pleased with the result but hardly entertained. One point closer to safety I suppose but we don't look much of a threat going forward.

Shame we conceded late on but overall a point gained rather than two points lost.
Subbing McWilliams and Holmes was understandable but didn't help, although we already had our backs to the wall. Those two and Marshall were excellent again but everyone put in a shift. Hoskins did little creatively and at times his ball control was woeful but he defended well. 'Dale's defence could not cope with Smith in the first half but he was largely isolated in the second as we sat deeper and deeper.
Scored a good goal, not sure about Mitchell's positioning for the equaliser but the free kick was well struck.
I thought it was a fair result, we have hope. UTC.

Thought the foul from which they scored was a bit doubtful?

Good point. The performances are improving but that's not saying much given how things were a few weeks ago. Rochdale are definitely in a false position, there is no chance they finish worse than mid-table IMO.

Bolger is a real disappointment I have to say, he looks so disinterested most of the time it hurts. The absolute opposite of Goode. Look at his positioning for their chance at 1m26s in the highlights video. Too often he's ball watching and not keeping an eye on the player he should be marking. He ended up inadvertently teeing it up for Keohane who should have scored.

I don't like calling out players but if we're going to stay in this division nothing less than 100% will do and we absolutely have to cut out the cheap goals we are giving away. Without defensive solidity we won't survive because we won't be scoring more than 1 or 2 goals very often.

Good first half with an excellent goal. Testing corner well met by the big man. Holmes, Marshall and Harriman all taking the ball to Rochdale, McWilliams scurrying around to good effect, and Smith playing with confidence. Second half a total contrast with us playing deeper and deeper, and just letting Dale come at us - inevitable they were going to get one through, which they duly did. Maybe could have been different if Holmes and McWilliams were 100% matchfit? A win would have been great - but most of us would have settled for a point as we usually get FA at Rochdale.

Our main strength last season was the quality of the back 3, the recruitment has not been good enough.

Bolger - gives the ball away for a shooting chance at least once a game.
Horsfal - Seems short of confidence and in utter panic mode with the ball. He looks a league two defender with half the footballing ability of Goode, Wharton and Turnbull.
Racic - Seemingly frozen out after a string of poor performances.
