I would think a rather unlikely scenario? For the sake of discussion and perhaps wider interest, my somewhat unqualified and unreliable interpretation would be that season ticket holders would be entitled to a full refund perhaps less the cost of an Ifollow subscription? Force Majeure conditions if relevant may be applied to games already played? FYI

Its a legal minefield!!

Now lets say 2000 people are allowed back in.....you can reduce that to 1750 when you take off the vips and associated freebies! So how will it work? Season ticket holders may have to register their interest on a game by game basis, then that registration would close on a Wednesday (for a Saturday game), then there would be a ballot, and those successful would need to be allocated a seat somewhere and potentially have to print off their ticket at home.

If there were 4000 people allowed in, or in our case 3900 as that's 50% of capacity, you can take off the same 250 leaving 3650. More than enough for all s/t holders (2800 ish?) but then you'd still need to know who wanted their tickets to know how many left over tickets were available for purchase......and of course everyone would have to be seated safely in not necessarily their purchased seats!

Not going to be easy logistically is it?

Shut up you idiot
You are a silly man who rather than post anything worthwhile in the form of advancing the debate chooses instead to post four word posts that deride anyone who has a different point of view than himself.
You must be taking lessons off of everbrite.

I’m sure that if there was a poll most ST holders would rather someone has their seat on a Saturday to generate some revenue so that the club wouldn’t go bust.
I doubt anyone would vote for the...
I’ve paid for a ticket but despite being able to watch at home I want to turn up even if it means the club going bust option......

If that’s what needs to be done to maintain good housekeeping and maintain the clubs stability I would imagine most ST holders agreeing in these turbulent times
As many ST holders on here constantly remind us it’s not important what division we are in so long as we have a club.
If allowing non ST holders in to save the club I can’t see anyone complaining

You do come out with some rubbish don't you.

So, you want me to pay the club near on a £1000 for three season tickets and then not turn up when I can attend games because I can watch it free on I Follow to allow others who have not paid for the privilege to attend  Huh?

I don't know if your stupid or you just enjoy getting people angry with your ridiculous comments.

I don't deride other people's posts in an uncouth and abusive manner. Please provide an example - go back to 2010 if you like.
What you have appeared to have done is given a truly ironic example of somebody who can't stand any counter opinion contrary to your own. Clearly debating is not for you! I don't fully support TCobbs comment to you but it is not uncommon on here to be called a ***** ; to me it's part of the game!

Fairly certain that the club said at the time of season tickets going on sale that holders would have first option of going when they open the gates again

See, that’s the difference between me and you GPC, you go into a lot more of the crucial detail. I have absolutely no idea how they would resolve this issue around a maximum attendance less than the number of season ticket holders? Good luck with that!

People over 60 with season tickets will be more likely to accept a compromise solution with the club on the basis that they only want to attend when it's safe for THEM to attend. The resolution for the club will also be cheaper as those persons have discounted season tickets in the first place.

Unbelievable. This shoemaker guy is either off the scale stupid or just lives to wind folks up? I assume he’s not a ST holder? Funny, because he seems so knowledgeable and supportive in all his valuable insightful postings - not!

Letting 2,000 people in is going to cause more frustration than if you weren’t let in at all !
3,900 will at least appease the season ticket holders .
Absolute bunkum about over 60s taking a back seat . Why not say anyone that smokes or is fat shouldn’t go  !! Ridiculous .
I’m not a season ticket holder this season and don’t expect to be going to a game until maybe March or April or not at all .

There is a high level of hypocrisy here. I have read messages from loads of folk on here, particularly since the pandemic, concerning themselves with the finances of the club. That we should sell Goode for the wonger, that we shouldn't offer long contracts, that we shouldn't require refunds for games we don't get to watch, that the land deals should benefit the club, that they couldn't care if we got relegated so long as we survived, that the club should buy cheap - the list us endless. However, when it comes to the bottom dollar everyone is jumping up and down. If it is all down to finances then surely the obvious move is exactly what shoemaker is suggesting? The other option is to raise the ticket price, season ticket holders just paying the difference.

Thanks SOG that’s exactly what I was trying to put across although you managed it far more eloquently.
Maybe by allowing paying fans in instead of ST holders who can watch from home we would have more money to spend in the January transfer window.
I can see some clubs with foresight going down this route....

As an aside
In a crowd of 2,000 how many statistically will have coronavirus.
Anyone far more knowledgeable than me have any idea
I heard a few weeks back that one in sixty people had the virus but I’m probably wrong
Still seems risky to me....

Not sure if this translates, I'm on a course at work, 10 people attending,  2 of us have had Covid. So going on that roughly 200 out of 1,000 at a game would have or had Covid.

figures as at week ending 14th November suggested one in 80 people in England was carrying the virus, much higher than Wales (1 in 165), Scotland (1 in 155) and Northern Ireland (1 in 135)

so from a 2000 attendance from within Sixfields there would be 25 people actively carrying the virus.

I think you'll find that sample size is too small to defend for even the most ardent of the amateur statisticians who post on here.
Has no one yet raised the point that the town or postcode of a football ground may well fall into tiers one or two allowing spectators to return, but those spectators coming to the game may well be living in areas within tier three.
An example of the discrepancy in figures from BBC covid in my area just today shows Rugby having an infection rate of 232 per 100000 and Daventry of 124 per 100000. Ten miles apart with lots of people living somewhere in the middle.

I find the whole 2000 or 4000 numbers quite odd. 4000 people in Old Trafford would be perfectly safe as the ground would look empty. 4000 people in Sixfields would mean every other seat was occupied.

Surely it would make sense to base the numbers on percentage of capacity rather than a specific one-size-fits-all number of seats? Or have I missed some of the fine print that addresses this?

Rule is 4,000 or 50% of capacity, whichever is smaller. Doesn't change your every other seat argument though! I think the assumption will be that people attending in household/bubble groups will allow for bigger gaps.

Personally, based on what we know about how this thing spreads, I can't see any reason that it can't be done safely. However, it will rely completely on people following the rules and being very sensible and that's where it might fall down. Won't take many transmissions being traced back to football grounds for the whole thing to be called off - public sentiment is not on our side!
