According to KC he says the system needs changing because whereas you can appeal a red card you cannot appeal a red card that has resulted from 2 yellows.

The only situation where you can appeal a caution is if it is for mistaken identity.
You cannot appeal a 2 Caution Red Card but you can appeal one of the cautions within that 2C/RC if it was mistaken identity.
If the first one can be proved as mistaken identity, the club would/should have a justifiable appeal.

The Assistant flagged, did you not see that?
As well as being able to communicate using their headsets, technology is a wonderful thing.

Yes I did but like the Commentator, Martin Smith assumed he was flagging for a foul on Martin. My point was that I didn't see the ref consult the linesman. Just forgot about the updated Technology after all the Ref was within hailing distance of the Linesman! With reference to the Red Card or second yellow I beg to differ on your analysis as I and one or two+ on here are undecided on the fairness of the first card let alone the second. I do admit that MS reaction of astonishment swayed me. My problem with iFollow is that it lags and the zooming/focusing affects the picture. Or I need new glasses Grin

The direction of his flag, following agitation, indicates the direction that he believes the free kick should be awarded.
The first caution wasn't shown on the highlights, so I cannot and haven't commented.  However as I've said earlier, if it was mistaken identity, there is the possibility of an appeal but only on that card.

I don't think they'll get any joy on that front - Martin stood over it for a while, then moved away and Harriman stood over it, at which point the ref waved a yellow. I don't think any argument about mistaken identity will hold up because while Harriman was the one standing over it at the time, it was Martin who had stood there for a while and done nothing, so the ref will say it's for the first offence, I guess.

In that case, the Ref should have booked both players. The guy who is going to take the free-kick  - Harriman was the one I thought was always going to take the free-kick. So the ref books Martin! Unless the Club contests successfully the decision a few on here will have kittens if Martin is not punished. Will also make Mysterious Curle smart arse comments superfluous  Grin

Agree with that, but shouldn't the ref have called Martin towards him instead of brandishing yellow in front of Harriman with Martin five yards further away?
That's how I remember it happening.

Martin has picked up an extra one game ban and a fine for his comments to the officials during and after this game.

Not bothered about the fine, but the ban is a bit of a result!!  Tongue
