A larger burst of b/s would be harder to uncover. Do people actually believe the words of KT?

So Charlie Goode and the cup-run barely makes up for the lost income then? You wonder how other clubs without that windfall are feeling at the moment.

To clarify here, lost income is circa £3 million, with £500,000 being given by the Premiership in support.

So we have a net income loss of around £2.1/2 million and are being funded by the club's owners but I'm sure that won't stop people taking a pop at them.

So where does this £3M figure come from? It's generally agreed that we have 3,000 STH so if we would average 7,000, which is doubtful, that's another 4,000 customers at an average of £20 per head, which would bring in £1.84M over 23 games. I would have thought that our average gate would have been more like 6,000 which would have bought in £1.38M. Do we make a clear profit of over £1M - £1.6M from the Commercial side of things ? if so they were doing an incredible job.

https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/thomas-reveals-scale-cobblers-revenue-losses-due-pandemic-3089449

That's the jist. 1.75m ticket revenue, £1.3m 'other' lost revenue, according to KT.

Don't think that's confirmation of a £2.5 net million loss btw, it's a £3m drop on our previous income. If we were making losses before, then it's a £2.5 million higher loss. He does mention that doesn't include the income that is then returned through I-Follow.

Nor does he mention the costs not being incurred by playing in front of no fans, nor does he mention the increased TV revenue pot and the increased League solidarity payment coming from just being in League 1 as opposed to League 2, or what the wage budget this season is compared to last, or that most non-playing staff were furloughed and had their wages paid by the Government as opposed to the club for many months.

Look, its obvious we are going to lose a load of money, just as everyone is......but don't take figures in isolation, where there's a downside there's often an upside.

I'm not sure there's an upside of Covid for football clubs?

I think he means that there's a lot of factors that mitigate the loss rather than being a upside to having a covid... but yeah, I think even with that the Goode money is easily being eaten away by the losses this year, it's not available to be respent on playing staff.

Perhaps "upside" in this case was the wrong terminology to use, but Welly Cobb has more accurately put across my point!!

From my list, the "upsides" were that the wages on non playing staff were being paid for the club not by the club, the Policing bill must be lower, that sort of thing.

The £3m is a headline attention grabbing figure, but lets not forget that we have lost between £1.5m and £2.5m in the last two years prior to Covid......

Kelvin Thomas pleading poverty, never.
This was all very predictable with the second part of the bail out linked to losses.

It’s basically a commercial loan? Football clubs are notoriously difficult to lend to because most of their assets are their players.

Only the non playing staff who were full time are entitled to furlough.
The full time staff continued to work whilst the players and playing staff were still working so wouldn't be entitled to furlough?

He did say he didn't want to saddle the club with more debt when answering the 'what happened to the money that was ringfenced for the development of the east stand didn't he?
Not so ringfenced afterall.

But only for a couple of months when they returned to work?
