Swap Hoskins for Marshall and it looks OK.

Blackpool tend to play a back 4 and I would match them up so that our attacking wide players were not required to do so much defensive work.
                                                      Mitchell
             Jones                Bolger                           Sheehan                 Mills
                        Watson                  McWilliams                    Sowerby
             Hoskins                         Rose or Edmonson                         Miller

Our record at Blackpool is poor Played 17, won 2, drawn 2, lost 13, goals for 14, goals against 33.
After losing 3 of their first 4 home games Blackpool have since taken 13 points from the last 5 including wins against Portsmouth and Hull who they also drew away with yesterday. In these 9 games they have scored 11 times and conceded 10, strangely the 10 goals conceded have all come in 4 games as they have kept 5 clean sheets.
Blackpool have a few missing with injuries including Keshi Anderson and PJ Hamilton, another of their forward players has been recalled by their club so they are a bit light up front although they still have Madine and Yates.
James Oldham is the referee who so far in 18 games this season has issued 46 yellows and 2 reds, we last had him in February when we won 3-0 at Grimsby.

If, and I know it's a big if, we can win that drags them back into range . And makes the PPG scenario look a lot rosier

The first team selection proposed in this thread seems pretty useful; not sure if Jones and Sheehan will be deemed fit/available?

The only change I can see from Sunderland is Mills in for Adams with the new boys starting on the bench. It would be very dangerous to change formation combined with 2 new players in a match we are capable of getting points out of. The last few matches we played 3 attacking players in we got battered, the last thing we need is to go a couple of goals down early where there would be no coming back from. It would be more sensible to start more defensively and then make attacking changes if we do go a goal down.

I dont see Curle starting with either the new signings.
Flat back four makes sense to me but I wouldnt be surprised if he still uses wingbacks.

I'd start with..

Arnold

Jones
Bolger
Sheehan
Mills

Adams
Sowerby
Watson
McWilliams

Rose
BAS

Bench,
Mitchell
Marshall
Hoskins
Horsefall
Missilou
Miller
Edmondson
How many we allowed these days?

I’d be amazed if he doesn’t start at least one of the new boys.

Spotted that too. Would be amazed if this goes ahead unless they have something to cover the pitch with!

My second ever away game... September 10th 1983. Blackpool 2 Northampton Town 3 (3,216)
Lashed it down all day as around 100 or so Cobblers stood on the vast open terrace. Blackpool scored inside the first minute, the Cobblers came back for the win.
Think Terry Austin scored, but not sure!

It was our defeat at Blackpool on the last day of the 1965-66 season which sealed our relegation from our season in the top flight.

No!  Grin
Went up with my mate on an 'Blackpool Illuminations' coach from Nuneaton. Both of us bedecked in claret n white. Remember blokes getting off the coach, mumbling about how they hate Aston Villa and West Ham as they filed past!
Burnley, Chelmsford City and Torino had obviously escaped them!  Grin
