I'm adding away attendances to my records book and have got 4 fixtures in the last 13 years that I have been unable (so far) to find out the gate. I've tried Soccerbase (no help) so I thought somebody might have a better source.

The Games are:
31/8/10 at Hartlepool
28/1/12 at Torquay
10/11/19 at Chippenham
23/10/21 at Tranmere.

Many thanks.

If anyone is interested, I found a site, 11v11.com that gives you head to head results including attendances right back to the old Third Division South games. Amazing the amount of interest in football in those days. A Division 3 South game (which I thought was probably akin to the Trophy nowadays) between Cardiff and the Cobblers attracted a crowd of over 20,000.

I'd have thought a division 3 south game was more akin to a league 1 or 2 game nowadays and you see those sort of crowds quite regularly these days; Bradford, Derby, Bolton, Sunderland, Ipswich, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, etc.

Apologies. That should have read a Division 3 South CUP game.

Division 3 South was in fact the third tier of the Football League, if you won it you got promoted to the second Division.

So equal to todays League 1.

Not really. Just not that unusual. Sunderland had some crowds of over 40,000 when they were in the 3rd division/ league 1, only 2 or 3 years ago and an average of over 30,000. That is impressive. I dream of us having a stadium capable of holding even half that many.

Technically yes, but along with Division 3 North, they contained 48 teams who eventually went on to form the 3rd and 4th divisions.

Technically?

If you won Division 3 South you went up to the second division (2nd Tier of the football league and one off the top flight)

If you win League 1 now you go up to the Championship (2nd tier of the football league and one off the top flight)

So in both cases you are just one step from the 2nd tier.

And equally the bottom divisions and potentially one step away from non league. Just like 4th division/ league 2. So 3rd divisions North and south are the equivalent to todays Leagues 1 and 2. Smiley

Assuming you are referring to the Div 3 South Cup game on 27/09/37 Marvo? A local newspaper report from the game actually comments about how low the gate was. I believe the gate was approx 3000 not 20000. There was however 20000 for the league game there 2 weeks before. I can't see any mention of Div 3 South Cup on 11v11. If I'm wrong let me know as I too have a big interest in the statistical history of NTFC and have been researching it for a long time.

You're right, I stand corrected, that was indeed the attendance for the league games. 11v11 do not have the Div 3 South Cup games. They also have very few attendances in regard all the cup competitions. I've only just started adding the attendances to my records (long process)  but when I'm got as far as I can I'll send off some emails to the clubs I need attendances from and see if any can help. Thank you.

Who’s paying for it, it’s not cost effective and we don’t sell out now.
