13th Feb 1965. Northampton Town 2 v Preston North End 1. Brown, Robson Godfrey
Attendance 14,101 I was 8yrs old, sat with my Dad in the main stand. In answer to the question, I think 7/8yrs old is about the right age for the induction.

The game before the Stoke City League Cup game - Doncaster Rovers 30th September 1978 a 3-0 win. In those days you had to attend previous games to obtain vouchers for any 'big' cup game. The Stoke City game was played on 3rd October 1978. We lost 3-1 on the night and Geoff Scott played for Stoke that night and later went on to play for us. Needless to say I was hooked at the age of 10 with the game experience at The County Ground. I was due to attend the Dave Bowen testimonial in November 1976 but my Mum wouldn't let me go because I had a cold

Dad took me to reading to watch northampton play when I was 7. 0-0 the score was; I remember Chris Hargreaves and John frain playing then. That's all I can remember! Must of liked it enough to carry on watching them!

A reserve game, aged about eight, we only went because our neighbour was playing, and he got some free tickets. Gave the old man a bit more to g@mble with. Game number two was the final game of the season at Filbert Street, Derbys champion winning season. He blagged those tickets as well. After that, it was Jimmies WMC Sunday lunch, after train spotting at disused railway lines. I dont think that he liked me very much.

About 1950’ish very young and remember being very bored! Remember that I didn’t get hooked until I was 13yrs. School took its toll but can remember vividly the Arsenal game at Highbury game where we lost 3-2 J English scored both goals and ran the mighty Gunners close. Was able to listen to part of the game on the radio. From then on they were my talisman along with novels by GA Henty! Whilst living in London used to watch the games in the capital, Brentford, Orient, Charlton, QPR, Chelsea, Fulham, Millwall and Spurs! Our strength in those days was our defence, then a playmaker in midfield. It was Bowen who managed to sign some very good forwards, Bobby Brown, Hunt, Broadfoot, Robson, Lines, Reid, the bouncing Smith from ‘Boro, Hails also from ‘Boro, Livesey, Leek, Kane, Martin, and above all Cliff Holton. Nearly forgot Frank Large who put the Brighton keeper and ball BoN at the Goldstone ground packed too! Loved it! There were others too! Compared with now the strikers of yesteryear put current crop to shame although I suspect Rose, Ete and Hoskins might have fitted in!

Vs Southend, FA cup replay 1986 - 87
We drew the first game 4 - 4 and I think we won the replay 4 - 3? Benjy got a couple of penalties I think Richard Cadette in the Southend team back then - he was a quality player

We won 3-2 and Dave Gilbert scored 2 penalties and we went to Newcastle in the next round.

I remember both of those games! Thrillers.
Yeah, agree re Cadette. A proper handful. The only striker I saw who realistically had the better of both Macca and Russ.

My family upped sticks and moved from Cheshire to Northampton in 1977, and my grandfather used to come down to visit and take me to the County Ground when Crewe were playing there..... so around 1978 would be my first Cobblers game. I started going solo in 1981/82 (aged 13) and I certainly remember my first away game (the first time my mum let me go by myself at least!!) was the FA Cup game at VS Rugby in 1983.
