took a while to find the thread…but here we are again! Bet you can’t wait for more.
Level with Bert Dawes (of Crystal Palace fame) in league goals. And overtaken Bert Lewis (of Southern League and Charity Shield fame) to 6th in overall goals.

How much would you have sold him for Comrade? How much did you value you him at when he was at his peak?

To be honest comrade, any six figures would have done, I’m sure KT would have agreed, but as no one made a serious offer we will never know.

Come on Comrade, that is sitting on the fence, which is unlike you, it could be anywhere between £100,000 - £999,999. FACT.

If it's possible to cheer up certain members of this forum, he's played the 3rd most league games in our history now, overtaking Peter Gleasure. 45 away from Sammo.

We must be the only supporters who regard player loyalty as a negative. Perhaps we should hold testimonials for those that bugger off after half a dozen games.

In that case Mr Hylton deserves the freedom of The Teyn.

Loyalty? I worked for the railways for 38 years. Was I loyal? I suppose if another rail company had approached me, offered me better terms, on newer trains with better conditions, which afforded me the opportunity to live in a better area with a better house, a better car, etc, if that had happened and I'd turned them down then yes, maybe I could have been classed as loyal. It didn't happen though so I guess we'll never know for sure just how "loyal" I was. I'm not picking on Hoskins by the way, I think the same applies to Sammo. Sometimes you stick because you never get the opportunity to twist.

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

Loyalty has always been seen as a binary thing, especially linked to money. I’ve been at the same place 30 years. I was offered another job for £25k a year more about 5 years ago. I chose stability, pension, shares, healthcare and redundancy protection over moving. I’d say I was loyal and my employer has been loyal to me. If they get shot of me during some restructuring it wouldn’t take away from that loyalty to me IMO. They have supported a wonderful life and paid me well, they could pay me to go, it wouldn’t be personal. You know what you are signing up for.
Who knows if Hoskins has had the opportunity to leave at some point. I’m sure any motivation to stay wouldn’t have been solely financially driven. Maybe a bit different if a player had the chance of life changing money. e.g 100k a year to 500k a year and loyalty becomes irrelevant! What is more telling is the usual suspects throwing pelters at any opportunity when he is off form or has a lean spell, quickly forgetting the recent couple of seasons.
When he finally jacks it in his appearances and goals will leave him forever in some of our record books. Some will view those stats through claret tinted specs, some will forever think that he was sh*t. I actually think he either snubbed Glasto once for an autograph or nicked his missus.
Loyalty can probably be levelled more at fans who have the choice of any team, so you could soon dump a sh*t one!

Come on Dav, you know better than that. Most would have dumped The Mighty Cobblers years ago. It is the chance of fate in some cases, like where you grew up in my case, or on the blood, like poor unfortunates like the Bingers Boys. Most of us don't have a choice of clubs to support, it is pre- determined. For better or for worse.

I dunno, I have thought about my grandfather more recently (who passed away in 1966) who was born and lived in Wrexham all his life. Sounds like your boys are glory hunters!

Sounds like your boys are glory hunters! Year on year, they have seen relatively more glory than I have done. When you think that by location of birth, they could have gone down the Bantams route, I'd like to think I have done well by them.

Thank you Shoey, I have always thought of you as one of the more erudite members of the board and your agreement on this matter is conclusive proof. In fact, it is undoubted FACT.

Hoskins has always divided opinion, but I would say how many managers have we had that rate him and play him and have offered him new deals, I get why certain sections of the support don't rate him, but for me I would say the guys managing the club are much better qualified to offer opinion on a player than most of us sat in stands.
He is well off the pace at the minute so maybe whatever injury he had is slowing him down still, this is probably the first time in a long time he hasn't been our main man, so maybe he just needs minutes in legs and regular football to get him back on track.
