Completely agree - whilst some of our more extreme friends don‘t understand there are a raft of reasons why foreign aid is important for both humanitarian and longer term economic benefits, the destinations for some of this aid seems bizarre and you quote two perfect examples. Perhaps it is available but I think there should be more transparency on where our foreign aid goes but more importantly why.

Regarding Aid - Protected children never grow up.

Also Regarding Aid - we owe our own people humanitarian aid before any other country's.

Economic Benefits - those that would arise anyway if the relevant country ran itself properly.

Transparency - No government in my lifetime has wanted transparency. They only want transparency to benefit their own ideology/views. Tony Blair's biggest regret was proposing and passing the Freedom of Information Act.

And his biggest mistake was the human rights act, gleefully abused by barristers ever since.
