Good solid win.

Etete is growing into the role of lone front man. Good performance from him today and hit the bar - I think the goals will come. Once again, I think 4-2-3-1 suits our strengths: Horsfall and Guthrie with a DM pivot of Sowerby and McWilliams in front of them will be very hard for most L2 teams to break down.

Forest Green apart, this strikes me as a pretty wide open league. We're up to 8th, level with 7th placed Orient now despite our recent poor run.

Thought Kion was MOTM today.

Does anyone else think McGowan's goal took a deflection off a defender before it went in? Neither RN or the Chron have mentioned it. Also who was the Chris who was co-commentating with Tim, I only listened to the radio once the match had finished and his surname was not mentioned once ?

I thought we deserved to win today, like in fact we did last week, Etete for me was immense but should have scored.

Let's hope for more of the same on Tuesday.

I thought Mansfield were woeful, we deserved the win but FFS what was going on with Shaun McWilliams? I am a fan but he looked like a competition winner today I lost count how many times he lost the ball, Sowerby wasn’t much better either.
On the positive side back four were excellent as was Etete.
Oh and Super Sam was Super Sam.

Chris Dunn(g)

Thanks, he did mention a Cambridge connection and I assumed it was an ex-player but I couldn't join up the dots.

How people see games differently. Manny says McWilliams "looks like a competition winner and Sowerby was not much better". Personally I cannot agree with those comments and listening to Radio Northampton on the way home from the game they were praising McWilliams for regularly winning the ball and his use of the ball. They also thought Sowerby alongside him had a decent game but as we are regularly told on here they know nothing.
Roberts won't have many easier games than today as Mansfield were very poor and the defence was largely untroubled. I thought we linked play well down both sides, McGowan with Hoskins and Koiki with Pinnock. Etete deserved a goal and should have had one. Both goals originated from Pinnock long throws and I thought he was good today, made good use of the ball and also won it back on a number of occasions. We now have 12 league goals and half of them have been scored by defenders.
Great turn out by the Mansfield supporters considering what a dismal run of results they have had. I cannot recall another instance when supporters have chanted the name of an opposing player as they did "Danny, Danny Rose".
Stevenage on Tuesday presents an excellent chance to build on todays result. They lost 0-3 to Oldham today so perhaps a 'phone call to KC would give us some tips.

Good win today, but.... Mansfield were very poor and we were a bit better. Considering how poor they were, we still weren't that convincing. Etete had  good game but needs someone playing off him,......Rose?  McGowan was excellent and scored a great goal. Defence pretty solid but not difficult against an insipid attack, you can see why they haven't scored for a few games.
Sowerby and Lewis were both pretty awful and should have been substituted but again the substitutions were a bit strange. Should have brought Rose on for Lewis to play alongside Etete and Harriman at the end was probably just to waste a bit of time.
Run of the mill victory against a very poor side. Should have been going for more goals at the end instead of trying to keep it in the corner and could very easily have given them a lifeline with the penalty that wasn't with 10 minutes to go, including a mystifying 6 minutes injury time. Happy with the win but we've got to start killing these shıte teams off and improving our goal difference.

I though McWilliams has his best game with us in a long time, definitely suited to the base of a midfield, suits his major strengths, tackling, workrate and aggression, and asay from his weaknesses which is picking out the killer pass.
