As the Trust board representative I attended the club's AGM this morning. Amongst others attending were Kelvin Thomas, Mike Wailing, Gareth Wilsher and James Whiting.

It was quite a long meeting and points from both sides (The Trust and the Club) were passionately put and received.

Everyone was very generous with their time and cordial, which I really appreciated and thank them.

I understand that I have posted things on here that has offended those at the club, individually and collectively, at this point I am unsure what to say next, I will certainly look at things to see how I can improve in that regard.

As I said to DC, I am your biggest fan and your biggest pain in the butt, the same extends to KT.

If you want our club to be the best it can be then, I (and expect the Trust) will do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Obviously there are differences of opinion and what constitutes a successfully club. s***boro are in twice as much debt as us but have been in the Championship a few times / high end of L1, which would supporters prefer?

I look forward to hopefully more meetings with them in an effort to move our beloved club closer to where we ideally want it to be

Thanks again
Derek

Random, you have posted some awful posts in the past, but that post is more like how to engage with the fans. We are all fans of NTFC and we all have different opinions which need to be taken onboard.

Random,
Three questions from your attendance at the AGM:
1.  Did our Trust shares allow you full voting rights on behalf of The Trust, or was there a restriction on certain Agenda items?
2.  Are you aware if the meeting was minuted and if so will they be available in the public domain?
3.  Did you personally speak to KT and express your "biggest fan and your biggest pain in the butt" quote?
Thank you.

Don’t be too hard on yourself either Derek, it all stems from emotion and passion. People that display those qualities tend to be highly motivated and I reckon we might need plenty of those types moving forward.

Hi DC

I will answer them without taking advice so I might be wrong  Grin

1. Yes although only votes I think were to accept the accounts (2 years worth) and to re-elect KT by proposal and seconded

2. Yes Gareth recorded the meeting for the minutes (and hopefully not to use against me / Trust going forward  Smiley )

3. Yes we were all sat around the table and they were all very aware of who I was and what I had posted. Kelvin was very generous with his time and even extended the meeting as discussions continued. I didn't say those exact words but James knows me quite well and knows exactly what I am all about.

Kelvin gave his side of the story and I gave mine, obviously there is differences. For me as I have always said I want us to invest more in the infrastructure because I believe it is actually a better way to deliver value and build the business.

Kelvin doesn't see the value in improving away facilities for example, fans get the basics. Personally I just feel that is old fashioned, out of date and a bit disappointing.

In todays world, consumers want convenience and a bit of quality - they want a bit of wow (sorry again Kelvin but they do) - The East Stand is an opportunity to do some of that, this is why I and the Trust are concerned that a basic £3m fit out will be a missed opportunity.

But again I am very grateful for Kelvins time, I just need to persuade him that we can do even better.
Thanks

Great post Random.
Sounds like a positive meeting. Always going to be points the different parties don't agree on but the key is having that discussion and hopefully agreeing a plan to progress.

Excellent, it's great to hear that the dialogue from both sides was more positive than of late.
My question to you in a trust or as just a poster capacity is:

If the Trust has relinquished its place in the board by not standing for the fans rep position....
Does your meeting represent the last one for the Trust or is there a possibility of a mutual Trust and fans rep combined voice on the board?

Hi

As the Trust is a shareholder of NTFC, no it won't be the last AGM we attend.

As you know Board members did not stand for the rep position partly due to KT stating an independent candidate

The Trust would obviously welcome any communication and co-operation with the fan rep, as we said in the official statement

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to confirm the above

Derek - I am so pleased with this seemingly small but very significant change in your approach - hopefully the club owners accept this and continue to be more open.

I am more hopeful of an overall positive outcome - well done and thank you.

This forum may be the collective snug in your local pub with the ability to express yourself more freely than in certain areas, although it should not be underestimated as a vehicle of expression and ideas.

Open dialogue will only benefit the club so hopefully this can be a catalyst to a new era when the Trust finally move from policing the door to actively looking at ways to independently improve the structure of the club.

The Trust need more visibility and to stop hiding in the shadows.

Fair play random.

Thank you everyone, I am trying, honest (yes very trying) Grin

Same question still applies, what do you want from your football club?

Which club(s) should we be aspiring to emulate ?  (sensible answers please)

I want us to be more ambitious, more imaginative and have more of a plan

My 'job' as I see it now is to try to influence and encourage KT, the club, the staff and the fans, to do even more.

We need to identify why clubs have managed to established themselves in L1, often on small crowds and worse grounds. Accrington, Burton, even Fleetwood. Wycombe are suddenly high end L1 why?

and then have a real honest look at ourselves to see why we have not.

I got a bollocking from KT for not mentioning our 2 promotions in the presentation - fair point BUT we are back where we started so clearly we need to perhaps do some things differently
