However, I’m really interested to hear what you think. Most of us supporters have a fairly low opinion of our ground and the whole match day experience off the pitch (and sometimes especially on the pitch, although not of late). Any chance of some feedback following your attendance. Finally welcome to the most soul destroying, emotionally uplifting, crushingly disappointing, euphorically exciting experience of your life, enjoy the ride.

Not a real supporter but unelected chair of the Northampton Town Honorary Supporters Club. (Please note: any opinions given may not necessarily be shared by proper supporters. In incidents of conflict the views of real supporters shall take precedence).

Also what's going on with the east stand ? will it ever be completed ? And who owns all the land around the ground ? And finally what's the history of the athletics track behind the stadium ?

A revolution has started here at Northampton, well it started some 20 years ago with the intention to make Northampton town fc one becoming of a 125 year old club with over a century in the football league.. Unfortunately the money that was set aside to enhance ntfc growing our support base was stolen away, all £10m of it! Now we live in hope that the latest incumbent does what he said he would do, use £4m set aside to make our ground more professional to satisfy future demands from the growing 250,000 inhabitants living within several miles of Sixfields, but unfortunately this also hasn't appeared but we have inherited a £7m debt to the new owners without anything physical or visual to warrant such astonishing amounts of money! Maybe he's just set it aside for us? Despite us being complete basket cases these past 2 decades, falling so far behind all our local rivals, this is without doubt one of the most welcoming and friendly clubs you could wish to watch. The Sixfields complex is excellent, restaurants pubs etc, along with the pubs within walking distance at Jimmy's end and Duston are quality matchday pubs.. Hope you enjoy your visit to your new local club. The boys in claret are certainly putting in a good shift at the moment.

That will take about 50 years to explain and if 10 people reply you'll get 10 different points of view! The athletics track is easy. It used to be the home of the Northampton Athletics club but they got kicked out to allow the stand to be developed. Do the cobblers welcome new supporters ? especially ones from London - Yes, as long as you cheer when the right team score Where is the best place to go inside stadium for atmosphere ? Carrs Bar (named after Graham, not Alan) is inside (well outside but built in) the stadium but for atmosphere, cheaper drinks, and a higher likelihood of being served I would suggest Sixfields Tavern. I think its Hungry Horse pub still but not 100%, will be some chain anyway. I dont really pay attention to the food. They also have the lunchtime kick off on to watch Where is the best place to go to soak in all the atmosphere ? West Stand South Corner. Anywhere seat number 1-50 ish Best place for a post match drink ? - No where really at Sixfields. If you walk back towards town past the Saints ground, there will be a few along there that will be packed as its the East Midlands derby vs Leicester. I would suggest arriving early because the rugby is sold out so an extra 15,000 people milling about. Their game starts an hour later but roads will be a nightmare

Not sure if I sense a ‘political interest here’

What a really nice post . We are a friendly club despite how it comes across on this site sometimes . As others have said , arrive early for the kick off at 2pm because of the Saints being at home . I would also get a seat in the West Stand towards the south end but you may need to register first because you don’t live locally . For beers and food afterwards - avoid anywhere near the Saints and i would suggest maybe The Greyhound , The Walnut Tree , The Sun at Hardingstone or the pubs in Kislingbury . I hope you have a good time snd see a win !
