FA Cup Replays....remember them? Well we have a first round replay to look forward to as we travel to Cambridge to play for the right to play either Exeter or Bradford in the second round.
Both teams are coming off the back of defeats, we lost 2-1 at Bristol Rovers and Cambridge were sent packing on the end of a 4-1 defeat at MK Dons.
The U's have slipped to 12th in League 1 now following that defeat, and since the draw with us they were also beaten by Stevenage in the Papa Johns Trophy. That game didn't really matter though as they'd pretty much qualified already and indeed despite the defeat they still went through as group winners.
43 games between the sides now, we lead 16 to 14 on the head to head. As for games at the Abbey we have won 10 out of 21 games there, losing five and drawing six. Only one FA Cup meeting there in the past, we came from two down with Stamp and Hargreaves goals to force a replay in 2002, losing at Sixfields by the only goal. Our last meeting there was in the Trophy, Harry Smith with the only goal in a 1-0 Cobblers win, we also had a penalty shootout trophy win there in 2018.
Darren Drysdale is scheduled to be the referee for the game, 48 yellows and two reds in just 12 games this season including 10 yellows and a red in the Crewe v Accrington fixture in August. We last saw him in that notorious game last season at Ipswich, a game which saw the referee charged with improper conduct following a clash with Alan Judge, and which eventually saw him serve a suspension.

If scores are level at 90 minutes do we have extra time or do we go straight to penalties?.

Extra time to be played if required. FA Cup Replays are back from rounds 1 to 4 inclusive.....from round 5 its back to a one-off game.

Really looking forward to tonight . Crisp , cold evening under the lights . Chance of winning and a decent curry before the game . New road makes the journey very easy now . Personally i think Lewis should play alongside McWilliams if Sowerby is not fit . Flores for me is flaky and i would play Pollock in the Lewis position behind Etete or even Rose .
Chicken Madras with pilau rice and garlic naan and a pint of Kingfisher. Ta very much .

Let's hope we win it in 90 minutes as neither team will want extra time. Should we win it would be good to see the Exeter/Bradford replay go all the way. We have an excellent record at Cambridge let's keep it going.

Yes, I hope a long fruitless haul down to Devon for Bradford City this evening goes someway in our favour for Saturday...though they might just use Leeds/Bradford Airport for a quick hop!

Hoskins winner in extra time; totally against the run of play!

But will we try to pass to each other is the question? How many long balls will be punted forward I wonder.

Wasn't that the first game? Team:- Roberts; Harriman, Horsfall, Guthrie, Kioki; Hoskins, McWilliams, Lewis, Connolly; Rose, Etete Subs: Maxted, McGowan, Kabamba, Pinnock, Pollock, Flores, Ashley-Seal, Dyche Looks like 4-4-2 Revan is injured and misses out.

thats not all he missed during the Rovers match. By the end of tonight, my two least favorite venues will be done and dusted. The Memorial, and the shabby. (Mind the cowpat.) For me Kidderminsters finest, Chicken Balti Pie, two garlic naan washed down with a pint of local Black Country brew from that boozer opposite the railway station. Ta very much.
