I reckon if we're in the running for city status, with the council due to get significant extra cash and benefit from central govt, as I believe it will..... We should call it in like the Lib dems and Labour seem to enjoy doing with any kind of progress the club is on the brink of.... 😆😉

I like the uniqueness of being the only team being NTFC and playing in Claret and White
Well, there is Nuneaton Town. Also Street FC (Somerset) are the Cobblers...but yes, neither play in claret & white!

Met the heir of Clarks Shoes in an Irish bar, when living in Rīga. Nowt much else to say about the event!

Officially that is the Saints...which is why we added Town in 1897 after they complained!
I thought I read they added 'rugby' in the 1920's but cant find it anywhere. There is no mention to being called Northampton FC on their website either. We'll need a new song too!

It was Clarks' son, living in Somerset but doing some financial deal with Deloitte's. This was fifteen years ago...no idea about Chinese involvement since!

It's Northampton Football Club...always was as far as I know. Look up any history of NTFC, Darnell, is there. The club was founded on 6 March 1897 by a group of local school teachers who, together with a local solicitor A.J "Pat" Darnell at The Princess Royal Inn, Wellingborough Road, formed the town's first professional football club. Initially, their chosen name was Northampton Football Club, but after objections from the town's rugby club, the club was called Northampton Town Football Club.Apparently, the local rugby club also objected to 3pm kick offs!

Trawling about on Companies House on the trail of Clarks Shoes Chinese connection is very interesting (if you like that sort of thing) but everybody involved seems unremittingly British!
