During an idle moment I trawled through the 19 league games so far to see if there was any pattern to goals scored and conceded. I concluded that we are better in the first half than the second. In the first half we have scored 13 and only conceded 3 but in the second half it is 12-12, therefore 80% of our goals conceded have come after the break. You may think this is due to fatigue towards the end of the game but this is not the case as 6 of those conceded came in the 15 minute period after half time.
We have been ahead at half time in 9 games and gone on to win 8 the other being Hartlepool when we lost.
We have been drawing at half time in 9 games and then won 2, drawn 4 and lost 3.
The only game we have been losing at half time was against Sutton which we eventually lost.
We do not score early goals as our quickest was in the 14th minute. Breaking it down into 15 minute segments the stats are as follows:-
 0 - 15 mins  1-0
16 - 30 mins  5-2
31 - Half time 7-1
46 - 60 mins  4-6
61 - 75 mins  5-2
76 - 90 mins  2-2
90 mins plus  1-2
So we appear to be at our most vulnerable immediately after the break when the opposition manager has had a chance to gee up his players and maybe tweak his formation.

I think JB needs to bring this to the teams attention, the worst example of this was against Sutton when they walked through our defence and scored in the first minute after the restart. That is now 7 of our 16 goals conceded in this 15 minute window.
On the other side we have now scored 8 in the 15 minutes before half time.

Great work West Stand oap.

Seemingly, some on here happy to concentrate on the apparent negative(s) and this London poster at least thanks OAP for his analysis. Clearly good work by OAP with some interesting points made. Well done from me!

For me, its very clear why we are much better in the first half than the second half and why we do not score many goals late on...

Squad depth.

If we make subs, it normally weakens us.

Im sure Brady and co will know that. Our first choice X1 is a top3 side, that I think is obvious. However what is also obvious is that when we take one of them off, he's normally replaced by an inferior player. Last night McWilliams goes off, Flores comes on...

We need 3 or 4  additional players up to the standard of those starting in the team, when the window opens. If we do some good business, we should then remain in the mix of a top3 slot come the busy end of the season!

Energy.
They need more sugar in their half time tea's.

Trouble with sugar as Exeter will confirm it wears off dramatically after 15mins second half. Cool

Drilling - I think your explanation may be the reason why we score so few goals after 75 minutes but not why we concede so many immediately after half time as we normally still have the starting 11 on the pitch.

Thought I would update these:-
 0  - 15 mins  5-0
16 - 30 mins  6-4
31 - Halftime  9-2
46 - 60 mins  7-13
61 - 75 mins  6-4
76 - 90 mins  3-2
90 mins plus  3-2

 1st half  20-6
 2nd half  19-21

Points gained from losing positions 2
Points lost from winning positions 12

So the period immediately after half time continues to be our achilles heal with 13 of the 27 goals conceded coming in that period.
