I'm trying to work out how safe it is to book an overnight on the East Coast on the 18th when 4th plays 7th and the following night in the NE when 5th plays 6th. What are the chances of us finishing 4th or 5th, opposed to 3rd 6th or 7th. Any suitably qualified mathematicians out there?
I know a bit about maths and a bit about stats. I dont think there is a model in the world that could predict the outcome with so many variables. But I would say based on points, GD and guessing, most likely if we dont make 3rd would be 5th. Not 4th as PV have a (marginally) better GD, not 6th as if we can win one game Bristol will need to win both But I'd be waiting until after the weekend to book anything Or making sure I have free cancellation!

When it comes to maths I make Vorderman look like a proper thicko. 6 points and the other results don’t matter.

Precisely (mainly) your last sentence hombre. Also on the non footballing side of this deliberation one of my bookings has a free cancellation but only until 22.00 on the 4th May. I have already exercised that option...as you say the on field picture should become clearer after the long weekend. The other non footballing variable is that if I were to book directly with this establishment now, the package offered is significantly better with breakfast for two thrown in on the room only price and for only an extra 50 quid two evening meals also get included. Like can get so complicated at times don't you think? Thank fcuk I no longer have the added nuisance of having to work for a living.

In a certain parlance, our Carol can certainly these days be described as 'thick'.

I think you added unneeded complexity into your (retired) life I know nothing as decided to get married abroad during our 1998 play off campaign, although back for the disappointment of the final.

Although we have to play to win both both games it would not surprise me if 4 points proved to be enough. I think that Port Vale and Mansfield are likely to drop points and not be able to win both of their games which would leave only Bristol Rovers who could finish on 80 points with us. They have 2 winnable games but if we won our game by a single goal it would mean them having to make up a 7 goal difference.
We don’t want to let other teams in, we don’t. 6 points out of 6. We don’t let other teams back in. We Northampton promoted with Forest Green Rovers, Exeter. 😁😁😁

That’s me being positive, saying 6 points out of 6, because if you say 4 points out of 6. Now that’s that’s a worrier in anyone book. What to be positive, 6 out of 6. 😁

First goal will be important tomorrow as we have not come back to win after going behind this season, in fact I think we have only gained 2 points from a losing position.

I'm going to live life on the edge and stick £2 on a Northampton, Rochdale, Newport, Salford and Bradford accumulator. Cobblers up and £700 to celebrate with.

I just quickly grabbed the odds from sky bet but as others have pointed out plenty of options out there some clearly much better that what I quoted.

You’ll have to play the COVID card!
I played that card last month! (I actually did have Covid quite bad as it goes). Two wins and my worry has gone.....

Interesting stat.- We are 3rd in div.2 and have scored 56 goals, 2 teams fighting for survival in div.1 Morecambe in 19th have scored 57 and Fleetwood in 20th have scored 60. Their problems are at the other end where they have conceded 87 and 78.

As it stands at half time.....
Forest Green have a point on the board, we are four points ahead of both Port Vale and Mansfield who play on Monday. If scores stay the same and both of them lose then we are promoted.
Swindon are up into the playoff places, 6th as it stands, Brizzle down to 7th with Sutton and Tranmere outside of the zone.

Its back out of our hands again sadly.....
Bristol Rovers came back from 3-1 down to grab a 4-3 win at Rochdale, just a home game against Scunny for them to come. Port Vale and Mansfield both play on Monday, a win for either drops us down a place, a win for both drops us two places. Sutton's 4-1 hammering at home by Bradford drops them out of the playoff places, Swindon move up into 7th spot. Salford need two wins from two to stand a chance. Only a win in their last game is good enough for Tranmere, and then only if Mansfield lose their last two games and Swindon don't beat Walsall and Sutton don't beat Harrogate.
