So why do you fear Rovers? It is upto us to win and score enough in doing so! Perhaps you should be more concerned about us winning let alone scoring!

I’m not glad, it was just as I feared. Poxy Scunny were never to be relied upon…..

Oh well….they say the best way to go up is via the playoffs…. Grin

We are going into the play offs in strong form.
I’m sure the players will be over the disappointment of today after getting another win.
Rest assured we’ll make it an arsè twitching experience. Let’s just hope it’s not a repeat of our last Mansfield semi.

I wonder if there’s been a finished league two with 9 points separating the top 9?
Under the radar but pretty fitting that FG somehow managed to scrape the title with a draw.
When you look at the events overall it doesn’t make today seem that ridiculous. We’ve had umpteen opportunities to have finished top 3.

Stats for our season and cumulatively for the current squad ending the basic season entering the playoffs. I found it interesting;

Still trying to digest how it all unravelled on Saturday. Here’s a thought, if Rovers beat a full strength Scunny 7-0 or played and beat another normal side 7-0 would we be feeling as bad? Is it the selection of those youth players that rankles the most? I think it probably is for me.
I didn’t know the Scunny team until much later but when I did I wasn’t overly surprised they battered them. Our management team must have looked. And for that reason we probably should have been more positive second half. All hindsight now but it’s just a very difficult one to take.

Two things I thought were interesting from there.

Firstly, we're very streaky with our wins... good omen that we've won two going into the playoffs.
Secondly, our pre-season was very poor. Obviously no correlation between that and the season, so no moaning if we lose our pre-season games next year.

Let's hope the players have moved on quicker than most fans have been able to otherwise we've got no chance  Roll Eyes

Dear stato's. How often does the team in the first play off spot get promoted?

So over the years, the first couple of years included a team from the division above, a sort of promotion/relegation playoff, 1988/89 was the first season of the next four teams competing for the final place.
There was one year where 8th got you a playoff place, and one where they only went down to 6th (Maidstone/Aldershot demise), but the definitive totals for each team finishing in what are 4th/5th/6th/7th place or equivalents are.....

4th placed team promoted 15 times through the playoffs
5th placed team promoted 4 times
6th placed team promoted 6 times
7th placed team promoted 8 times

These are just the figures for the bottom tier fourth division/third division/League 2
