functional performance .
Colchester poor and we dealt with them .
i think we probably played with players carrying injuries today and so it’s hard to be too critical .
Sam had a good game all over the pitch and we were solid at the back .
comfortable

Our support is always to quick to detract from the opposition rather than praise us when we win.

It was a well co-ordinated game plan from the management and lads today. A couple of great goals from free play, a rarity in itself. Well done lads.

Only criticism would be the atmosphere. But early kick offs normally quieten it down…

First time to Sixfields in 2022 because of work, and looked like what I'd expect from having listened to the previous onto the radio. Hoskins managed to be involved in all 3 goals, but still have a mixed game. Lots of very long balls. A solid defence.

Think we're going to to miss Sowerby. Along with Maglorie and Pinnock probably the stand out player today, and with McWilliams suspended very light there.

That was a very professional and pleasing performance in the first half that continued up to the second goal (which from build to finish was a goal of the very highest quality). After that we lost our way a bit and then completely lost our grip on midfield after Sowerby went off. We rode our luck a little but then did well on the counter to nick a third. Fair play to BAS - he's become a figure of fun and there were plenty of groans when he came on (me include) but he managed to shove that back down our throats with a well timed run and finish. On the odd occasion I've heard him speak he sounds like a nice lad and the player's reaction to his goal suggests he probably is. I'm sure there's a player in there somewhere so let's hope this is something he can kick on from. I'm sure I said much the same thing after the first game of the season too but fingers crossed for this time!

workmanlike performance with a couple of good goals from open play, thought Super Sam’s was excellent, I was really pleased for BAS, not sure how many games he’s got left at this level.

Agreed, the way people talked about Wasall after we won away there you’d have thought they wouldn’t win another game all season, yet they won away at Forrest Green today!

Interesting comments from JB re: BAS:

“Benny trains very well and I’d just like to see from him a performance that shows us and the crowd that he can do what he does in training in a match. The whole group were really pleased for him to get that goal'.

Personally, I've been surprised that he hasn't been given more game time this season.
He's posed more of a goal threat than the likes of Rose and Kabamba (not saying much I know) and has undoubted pedigree.

Yes, we all know he's looked unsteady on his feet and off the pace at times, but I think a lot of it is about confidence and adapting to the physicality of this level. Unlike messers Rose and Kabamba - or even Etete - he hasn't really had a run of games to properly show what he's capable of.

If we release him then it wouldn't surprise me at all if he 'did a Morrison' and scored a shed load at non-league level before carving out a decent career in the league. Very much last chance saloon for him now, but I'd like to see JB picking the man in form and putting him in ahead of Rose as an option off the bench at the very least.

He will cause Skuunthorpe some issues; presumably JB wont drop a forward who scores in open play.

So good seeing 2 open play goals and both were excellent moves / finishes.

I would rank BAS well above Rose in the pecking order personally and am glad he got a rare opportunity today and took it. Hopefully he stays ahead of him for the remainder of the season.

It was extremely comfortable today and the team deserve credit for that as Colchester had come into this game in good form (not sure how but that's by the by).

Back to the top three and fantastic results elsewhere. Keep it going.

How good is Tyler Magloire by the way? Hell of a talented player.
