workmanlike performance with a couple of good goals from open play, thought Super Sam’s was excellent, I was really pleased for BAS, not sure how many games he’s got left at this level.
BAS finished that one with aplomb and is by far and away our most productive striker. Check his goals to minutes ratio

So good seeing 2 open play goals and both were excellent moves / finishes.
I would rank BAS well above Rose in the pecking order personally and am glad he got a rare opportunity today and took it. Hopefully he stays ahead of him for the remainder of the season.
It was extremely comfortable today and the team deserve credit for that as Colchester had come into this game in good form (not sure how but that's by the by).
Back to the top three and fantastic results elsewhere. Keep it going.
How good is Tyler Magloire by the way? Hell of a talented player.
+1 on all of this. I called Tyler for MOM within our group. Outstanding in defence, and very willing forward runs too.

Great performance by all the lads. Super Sam scored one, made one and missed 3 sitters! Which is exactly why I bloody love him! McWilliams was always going to be a big miss and if Sowerby is now crocked I think Tuesday nights game will be tougher than most think!

Solid if unspectacular today. Good games from all the defence, Sowerby, Lewis and Hoskins. Not one of Pinnock's best games. Great (and a little funny) to see Bernard score.

Rose would never have got there in the first place, who knows with Sammy? My statistical analysis was tongue in cheek...I'm not a fan of stats in isolation, but from where I was stood he did sort his feet out and put it away very well. Pity he can't do similar and manage to stay on his feet more of the time.

BAS at least is willing to take a shot. There was a point where Rose was in their box, he had a fair amount of time to get a shot off but delayed, and then laid off to Lubala but his pass was hopeless. He’s got such little confidence and that’s the big problem with him.
If Appere is injured as has been suggested in the injury thread, I’d definitely start BAS.

I think the issue with BAS is he can't play the target-man role very well, so with the football we play he has very little involvement in anything we do. Obviously comes a live in the box based on his goals to game ratio, think in a different type of team he might well shine at this level.

The negative aspect from yesterday was Sowerby, who was having a good game, going off with another injury and it looks like he will be missing for a while. Plenty of positives starting with the ever reliable Pinnock's corners producing the first goal for Horsfall and almost a second for Guthrie, they now have 6 each in the league. After going 6 games without a goal from open play what a fine goal it was to break the sequence, a surging run from Margloire, a deft lay off by Lewis and a sublime finish from Sam who also did well to set up Benny's goal. Pleased for Benny to get his goal (now our current leading striker with 2) but other than that I did not think he did very much other than give away a number of free kicks from clumsy challenges. Colchester played the ball around nicely at times in the first half without testing Roberts but we did have to make a couple of last ditch clearances. They offered little threat in the second half other than a mad minute after Sowerby had gone off when they hit the post and they looked suspect defensively. We will come up against better teams than Colchester but probably not on Tuesday night.

Did you know that in the entire EFL only Tranmere and Rotherham have conceded less goals than us (Forest Green have conceded the same). That’s pretty impressive.

Good win. I thought we looked more creative today and how nice to see goals from open play!
Re BAS, he does, at least look like he has a goal or two in him, even though his poor hold-up play means he's not likely to displace Appere in the near future. It's also fair to say that BAS has been given very little game time this season. He was even dropped having scored the only goal against Port Vale at the start of the season and has barely appeared since.
Re Rose he should only come off the bench in an attempt to get us up the pitch if we're under the cosh, by winning headers or fouls, but never to actually create or score. I haven't seen anything resembling a goal threat from him the whole time he's been a Cobbler. It always feels like a defensive move when JB brings him on (helping us to hang on to something), which says it all considering he's a striker.

Magloire, Horsfall and Guthrie looks a seriously good back three at this level, with Magloire's pace and capacity to bring the ball out complimenting the other two's aerial prowess and positional sense.
Hopefully, Magloire bringing the ball out through the lines or becoming a Wilder-style overlapping centre back will become a regular feature of our play - it provides the kind of tactical fluidity which frightens L2 defences. (Goode did this a bit when we went up under Curle.) It also gives us great cover as a 4 if one of the other two gets injured. I hope that JB has taken some steps to tie as much of this unit down as possible for next season.
3-4-3 seems to be the way forward at the moment. Will be very interesting to see what happens if/when Lubala get properly up to speed, as Pinnock and Hoskins are both in great form.
One fly in the ointment for me is that I would have liked to see Pollock getting some minutes in central midfield. JB has said a lot about 'putting square pegs in round holes', but his decision to bring Rose on over Pollock when Sowerby went off at 2-0 up suggests a lack of faith in the young man. Still you could argue that the decision was vindicated as Rose worked hard and set up the winner for Seal.
