When it comes to defence, given the clearly defined conditions identified in article 5 of the NATO treaty, our armed forces should really be viewed as a collective with the other member states. Any historical budgetary decisions would take have taken that into consideration. Therefore it’s a bit misleading to look at the individual circumstances of a member state in isolation, as it’s technically irrelevant.

Let me make one thing absolutely clear, the Trust “advisor” is not god. Are you going to tell him or shall I?

Ukraine could be a buffer state, neutral, with the following guarantees: 1. Ukraine, along with some other states bordering Russia who are not already NATO members, will not join NATO 2. Russia will not invade any of these buffer states
If Russia does then invade then these states would automatically and immediately become NATO members.
Could that work?

Unlikely, as aside from Ukraine all bordering European states are already NATO members. The only other border state is Georgia, and Putin invaded there in 2008. Clearly not a trustworthy man.

For what its worth, I dont trust Trumpy either, and Two tier Starmer even less. But then I could apply that to most politicians.

With admittedly limited knowledge I support Israel on this one - the world simply cannot allow the current controlling regime in Iran develop nuclear weapons and it seems despite assurances to the contrary, that is exactly what they are doing- of course we can’t be certain on anything here as us keyboard commentators are fed the information they want is to believe and there is the sobering historical reference of impending “weapons of mass destruction” - a lie that led to over one million deaths and continued instability to this day.

Agree with all of that, Iran has warned Iran on numerous occasions about its Uranium enrichment, Islam such a peace loving religion. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/06/12/middleeast/iran-threatens-nuclear-escalation-iaea-intl

Funny because I just made a similar observation elsewhere without reading yours. Anyway, I heard on the grapevine that it might be worth sticking 50 litres in the Golf?

I have no idea or care, what I do know is where this religion is there is usually war, Somalia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Algeria, China, Indonesia, ****stan, Nigeria and of course Afghanistan. They are here too, have a drive through Luton and see what you think, home of the 11/7 bombers. There is good and bad in every religion, but this one seems to be very intolerant.

Until Iran decides to blockade the Straits of Hormuz, and the price sky-rockets. Which will of course drag the US into a conflict, which they are adamant is nothing to do with them.

It looks like Trump is finding this international diplomacy lark a bit tougher than flogging a condo in downtown Miami. Perhaps he should stick to bullying kids in his own backyard rather than messing with the big boys. Oh.
