Why do we seem to do so poorly in the second half? In the 36 games so far we have been excellent defensively in the first half, only conceding 6 goals while scoring 22. However, in the second half we have scored 21 and conceded 25. It does not appear to be a matter of fatigue as 13 goals have been concede in the 15 minute period after half time and we have only conceded 6 goals after the 75 minute mark. Also it is unlikely to be down to the decision making on substitutions as we rarely make any before the 60 minute mark when the first 13 have already been scored. The goals conceded soon after half time could be due to the opposing manager geeing up his team at half time and perhaps making some tweaks to his formation which we are slow to react to but other that that I do not know. Any thoughts?

There were several second half c**tdrums... The ref, linesman and the two little s***s who ran onto the pitch, allowing for the five minutes extra of calamity to be played!

I'd forgotten about those two. The first one I thought was Billy Casper looking for Kes...

I didn't hear you, but that doesn't mean that I wasn't sat near you. I'd left my hearing aids at home. Macc Cobbler and his wife were sat a couple of seats from me. I couldn't read what he had written on his pigeon chest though?

I think Roberts also plays for us in the second half so perhaps that is not the answer, unless he only makes match winning saves in the first half. Nobody yet coming up with an answer as all other posts only refer to the last game and this has happened over the whole season.

Strength in depth and possibly fitness? I thought we had fixed it in January but the subs or 'finishers' as England Rugby call them were Rose, BAS and Lubala. Hardly the finishers or finish we wanted.

He made one good save whilst we had chances to score but failed to trouble the goalkeeper! Misinformation from you?

I worked out on Saturday, that we have scored just 5 goals after 80 minutes, all season. Based on an average of 5 minutes time added on, that would equate to 9 hours of football. Only 2 of those goals were meaningful, meaning that we have only gained 3 points after the 80 minute mark of matches all season.
My theory is simple. The team that starts matches is very decent. However the team that ends matches, isn't...
We have about 13 or 14 very decent players for this level. After that, they are either not physically fit of match fit enough, or are not good enough...
The lads we brought in during January, whilst on paper they look decent, all look to me (except Appere) like they need a full pre-season in them. Kanu, Appere, Zimba and Lababu (or whatever his name is) have arrived having played hardly any senior football in recent times, and they all look or have looked rusty at times.
Brady keeps relying on Rose to help kick the team on during the latter stages of games, and it never seems to work!
We had precisely the same problem throughout last season as well. Frustrating!
If we could mix things up after 60 minutes or so and bring on players who would make a difference, then perhaps this glaring weakness of ours would be fixed. I also don't think Brady has been brave enough; he only unleashes them for 10-15 minutes max (apart from Rose), so when are they ever going to get up to speed?!!

In the 16 games we have been ahead at half time we have gone on to win 13, drawing 1 and losing 2. Both times we have been behind at half time we have gone on to lose. The problem appears to be that we cannot convert drawing at half time into wins as in the 18 matches we have been level at half time we have only then won 4, drawing 8 and losing 6. If we concede first we never win as we have gained only 2 points from a losing position. But we have dropped 12 points from a winning position.

Poor budget, small squad, same players starting every game, it’s inevitable that they will begin to fade. I think our fitness overall could be better.

Couldn't agree more. Barely a single player off the bench is capable of impacting a game in any major way. As you rightly point out some of that is ability but some is definitely fitness and match sharpness. Some have been playing catch up and that never works during the season. Big summer this year in terms of attacking players. Need to get it right and get them in early.

No chance of getting them in early if we end up in the play offs as incoming players will want to know which division we will be in next season and that will dictate the offers we can make.

Really good point. Definitely changes the whole recruitment dynamic big time.

Yes, it makes an automatic promotion place so important otherwise our season is extended for a month and recruitment left in limbo. Meanwhile teams not in the play offs can start their recruitment and some of our targets may have already signed elsewhere by the time we know in which division we will be playing.
