After tonight, Rushden & Diamonds, if things kick on from the investors could potentially become the biggest club in Northamptonshire within 15 years. Completely serious, the stuff planned to go on down there is incredible and gives it a golden future.

I remember Dimones fans bleating on about how they had become the biggest club in the county a few years ago when they were in League One and we were in League Two. Within three seasons they were back in the Conference.
On Tuesday they got a crowd of about 750 for a crucial home game against Forest Green. We took nearly that amount to an away game against the same opponents in the FA Cup in November. We have a core support of about 3,000 who will always attend regardless. Rushden's is about 600. They never were, are not, and never will be, a bigger club than NTFC.

Not in 5, or 10 years, but in 15 years. Northampton is a rugby town and will have a rugby team that will dominate. It will not have a Championship football side.

Rushden/Irthlingborough will never even have a League One side again. I guarantee it. The core support is not there, and unless you get some twat willing to throw good money after bad at the club for no obvious reason, like that tit at Pooborough, then you'll struggle to even get back in the football league.

It's also worth remembering that in their heyday, Diamonds drew a significant number of supporters from the north west of Milton Keynes and surrounding towns. They got off the Diamonds bandwagon when it stopped rolling and jumped on another one that was just starting. Care to guess which one? And those ones won't be back either.

Northampton is a rugby town
Its a town with a population of 200,00 not a village of 6,500.People will go to watch a successfull team , like they used to go to R&D ,until you stopped being successfull , then you get down to your hardcore , ours is 3,500 yours is ,at the moment , 700 and shrinking fast.

I thought Nene Park would make a good training ground for ntfc, we handed over £1 but the deal fell through because Rubbish and Dustbins didn't have the 99p change
