I think I would describe this as a must-not-lose rather than a must-win game.

Must not lose, far better if we win game.

Trouble is if we set up that way we know the likely outcome and they are going to be gunning for us.

100% agree - if we set out for a draw or give the opposition too much respect in ends in tears - we are not a great team but right tactics, formation and attitude we can beat anyone in this division- the team need to believe that on Saturday

I see our initial allocation is 838 tickets. I would have thought we would take at least that. It's not that far and the magnitude of the game should drag a few more up. I'm planning on going up with my 3 brothers and buying on the day. I presume they will allocate more tickets if (when) we have sold out that 838??

Should we lose this game I think achieving a top 3 finish is highly unlikely. A win would do our chances a world of good but wins at Mansfield have been scarce, just 4 from 36 visits with 8 draws and 24 defeats. Our goal record there is extremely poor scoring 28 and conceding 70. Having only won 2 of their first 8 home games Mansfield have won all of their last 10 and will be going for a club record of 11 on Saturday. They have won 12, drawn 3 and lost 3 scoring 31 and conceding 19. In 12 of these 18 home games they have scored at least 2 goals so our defence will need to be on top form, however they have only kept 5 clean sheets.
I thought Mansfield were very poor when we played them at home but their form seemed to take an upturn coinciding with the arrival of JJO'T. I found this strange as when I saw him playing centre back for Burton he was not very impressive and if he is partnered at the back by big Ollie Hawkins they will be susceptible to pace. They have been playing 2 games a week and just scraping late winners so having had a week off could work in our favour. I expect to see the same starting 11 as last week.
Referee is Anthony Backhouse who we last had in our 2-2 draw at Salford and in 25 games he has issued 87 yellows and 3 reds.

we have true pace up front and they have JJOT at centre half .
JJOT was spent when he left us and was slow then . It’s a weakness and we will exploit that and give him a more miserable game than JJOT day at Mansfield previously when he got sent off .

Those stats can go either way - continue in the terrible vein for us and great for them but another way to look at it is we are due a win up there and they can't keep winning at home......I think I'll sit on the fence and say a draw.

Their up turn in form did start when he joined though.

Agree, 100% agree, if we go for the draw, then your a, giving the opposition to much respect, and also your inviting them to attack you. And it will end up in tears.

Go out for win, start of positive, (play like we did against Tranmere Rovers, Exeter, Hartlepool United etc) no reason why we can’t win. Massive game, (biggest so far)

To all, go out there for the win, and beat them, beat them. (Play your best) 2-1 Win

650 tickets sold as of this morning so with a day and half sales to go plus on the day we should get to 1,000.

Have sold the initial 838 and are selling an extra 400. That was what my mate said they said when he went in this morning. So should get above 1,000.

When I went there some years ago, I was told by a local that as I was from Northampton, I must die and I was shot in the leg!

Luckily my assailant was about seven years old and armed with a super soaker Grin

I remember a few years back, in the Early Doors pub, talking to one of the locals. His eyes were so crossed, I couldnt tell if he was looking at me, or looking out for a passing bus. Or both.

Can't wait. I hope we are happier leaving than that play off game when we filtered out in stunned silence. I can't believe that was 18 years ago and yet anyone there will have remembered shouting desperately for a penalty. Harper, Sammo, Hargreaves, Sabin, Rico, J Low, Smudger and Del boy. Decent team that.
