Well since I am sufficiently stricken with COVID to not want to get out of bed, but not so bored as to want to read the Redevelopment threads, I thought I would turn my mind to this years farce of a world cup.
I am sure at some point we will have a good whinge about it being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but since the draw has just made for the group stages, I thought I would have a little look at that.
I reckon that we have a relatively easy group with USA and Iran being easily beatable. Its always nice to beat Scotland, so let's hope they get through.
Group of death? I reckon group H - Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea.
Easiest group - A, if the Dutch can't get out of that one, they do not deserve to be there.
Don't yet know how the fixtures go after that, so will have to do some hunting around, to work out the best route to the final.

Group A is an affront to international footbball
And the Netherlands will still struggle to qualify...

The Premier League and Championship will be paused for a month during the World Cup, with their fixtures planned around it. All of the Third and Fourth Division clubs with a number of internationals involved will also be paused. Another load of games backing up to be played. Although they have decided to start the season on 30 July.

Although they have decided to start the season on 30 July. If we'd stayed at the County Ground we could have been about ten games in before we played at home. Northants CCC don't finish their last home game until Thursday September 29th. Playoff Finals the last weekend of May. Preseason two weeks later.

It is the most stupid place to hold a World Cup ever. Can't see many fans wanting to be there - I certainly wouldn't.

I was there in the late 90's during an unexpected stoppover en-route to a work appointment further east. My experiences during my 48hrs in Doha, including and especially towards my female colleague, didn't encourage me to return any time soon.

We used to play rock, paper, scissors to see who would have to go and do work there.

So, are we enjoying it so far? Anyone from The Hotel End gone out there? Anybody been stoned for blasphemy? I'm sure I read on here that somebody said that they didn't mind the Pøsh - that must deserve a rock or two.

Point them out… Shame them. The finger is hovering firmly over the ban button.

It’s not every day you find yourself cheering on a tyrannical, Middle Eastern dictatorship, who have designs on nukeing us out of the water. Is it…

I know a few lads from England duty, and I could have sworn that I saw an NTFC flag, albeit briefly, behind the goal in a replay during the Brazil game last night. Im not too sure if any of them would go to a muslim country though. And did anybody see on social media, the lads in full St Georges/ crusade gear getting turned away? Fuking idiots.

I thought Wales had this superstar player, Alexi Sayle or something like that. Was he on the pitch today?

Just placed a couple of bets on England to win so I apologise in advance for the inevitable loss.

Normal service resumed. That half was awful. Slow tippy tappy gash. USA have so much more pace and purpose. I dunno about patience, we need to show some purpose.

To be honest I’m not that overly fussed about Peterborough. In terms of distance they are not that close to really be a local derby. As far as a rivalry goes we’ve barely played them in the recent past with their fans singing about their hatred of Cambridge and not us. Maybe to the older generation things are different but to younger fans the whole thing seems a bit contrived to create a rivalry than anything meaningful.
