Exactly that. If Eppiah takes one of his 5 chances we would be all but up

The one that got me (apart from the naff shot directly in front of goal) was when Appere put him through. He got goal side of the defender and then faffed around, cutting in to allow the defender to recover. Most strikers would have got the shot in but I guess that’s why he’s in league two.

Many good points already made.

My additional thoughts;

The Central defensive back three - Horsfield, Guthrie and Roberts excellent defensively though H&G didn't get much look in at corners etc.

Sowerby and McWilliams solid defensively but offer little going forward.

Losing Mcgowan was significant. We don't have an adequate replacement (no idea if Harriman would have worked but he looks already pensioned off).

Why do people who've bought tickets leave ten minutes before the end when the game is hotting up and could have gone either way ?

Appere is looking a decent prospect. Eppiah would score a truck load with better finishing - an absolute handful to defend against with that pace and close control.

My best wishes to Sam, his wife and son.

What a terrific game, my arsè was on and off my seat all game. Exeter were outstanding and we went toe to toe with them all game. Could have won, but also could have lost. There were some brilliant individual performances, Kolki was incredible at times. Can’t argue with other a draw at the end of the day. As frustrating as it was, there is for me a fortunate turn of events. Bristol Rovers were always a huge fear in the playoffs. I was bricking it when they were losing because if we were to slip up against either Exeter or Barrow I just didn’t fancy our chances against them in the playoffs. On that showing and given the form we are in we are favourites to go up in the playoffs if Bristol Rovers make it. Today might not work out as bad as we imagine. If we were to draw they simply had to win in my book.

What a shocking piece of goalkeeping. Couldn't see the detail from the North.

The Pinnock fella. Few teams looking to tug him from under.

I don't know quite what to make of that game. I thought Exeter were the better side, at least they played better football anyway. We had another great goal from Mitch, he really is lethal from distance and we need to tee him up more often. At the start of the second half Roberts pulls off a point blank save and then their goalie does the same, although Eppiah really should have scored that. He's great to watch, lots of trickery and really fast but his shooting is dire, he simply has no power in his shot.

Then comes the offside 'goal' which was Pinnock and not the scorer - I don't remember Pinnock being involved in the move but I guess he must have been. Whether he was offside I do not know, but the ref should never have allowed them to take the free kick - from the wrong place and apparently a moving ball - while we were still celebrating the 'goal'.  Having said that how the hell they got the ball in the net I do not know - should Roberts have saved it ?

From there on in it could have gone either way and in the end I was happy to settle for a point - especially after saying all week we always beat Exeter.  I thought we lost something when McGowan went off as it robbed us of his services and Sam playing up front. Why did we not sign another right back, if he doesn't see Harriman as a replacement ? Other than that I thought Brady was right not to introduce anymore subs as I didn't see who on the bench would have improved us.

And another thing - I was listening to Radio Northampton after the game and Terry Angus does my nut in !!

Not great tactics from Brady in the 2nd half. We needed a win and he makes no subs (other than the forced one in the first half).

But the referee was a joke.
You cannot disallow a goal (he blew up after the ball was in the back of the net and we were offf celebrating) and then allow for a quick free kick. Half of our team we’re celebrating or confused, and Exeter were off on the attack before they’d realised what a **** up the ref had done.

The standard of the officiating is atrocious.
We have ourself to blame for not putting the game to bed, however that refereeing decision today and the fake-goal for FGR the other month and we’d have been 4 points better off
I don't think there's anything in the rules to say that shouldn't happen. If the ball was moving when the free kick as taken, as some has said, then fair enough, it should be re-taken. But a quick free kick is allowed - and enough time had elapsed from that point for us to get back into position so I don't think that was a massive factor.

Can't find any counter-argument about the Forest Green 'goal', however...

I was low in the west and saw the flag before we scored, as I suspect a large proportion of the crowd did, so the players should have been switched on. Would like to see the full replay.

Really enjoyed yesterday again despite the end result.  These last two games remind you why you love football and why it will probably be the death of me.

I thought it was a good back and forth game between two good teams who were going for it.

Eppiah had to do better with a couple of chances but the one straight at the keeper was particularly poor and would have killed the game.  Pinnocks goal was great.  I thought in the most part our defence stood up to the test really well and we now have a real attacking threat in open play.  It's took a while to get to this point and it's still not perfect but it's so good to see things coming together.

I really thought one of the set pieces would come off in the last ten minutes and we would be celebrating.

I'll be honest I didn't think there was much wrong with the Exeter goal it was just smart thinking from a good team.  Quest showed the full incident from offside goal to Exeter goal and it's just great work from the defender and keeper and the ball isn't far at all from where it should have been.

I'm afraid Hoskins didn't defend the cross well enough for me.  He had totally the wrong body shape and gt squared up and that allowed the Exeter player to go by him too easily.

I left the ground a little down after hearing the Rovers result as I had assumed they lost as it was 3-1 last time I heard the score!  Having looked at the table and the possible permutations I still think we have a great chance of going up if we win at Barrow.....which won't be easy.

The second Eppiah chance miss didn't look quite so bad on the highlights. The ball came straight to him rather than in front so he did well to squeeze out a decent shot.
That's a bit harsh on Hoskins, he forced him our wide and the cross would normally have been dealt with. You could argue Roberts was at fault but that would also be harsh.
I didn't realise how close Horsfall's header was to going in at the death. Oh well.
I reckon we are still favourites to go up automatically. People often forget about draws in these things and I think our rivals will get some of those in the games coming up.

I really don’t want to single out any of the lads for yesterday’s game. But  Grin I do worry about McWilliams confidence. He used to be a typically go getting, tough forward thinking midfielder. These days he seems to lack the confidence to push on, preferring to release the ball either sideways, or backwards.

Having said that. If you’d have told me at the start of the season that we would be where we are now, I would have told you to fcuk right off.

Two very committed teams on the pitch yesterday produced a great match that you just couldn't take your eyes off. Both created plenty of chances and we all went through quite an emotional wringer. The goal from Pinnock was pure brilliance.

The only place the keeper had a chance of saving, Eppiah put his shot, but looking at the highlights it looks like it got tangled under his feet.

Their goal is a little controversial, however there's seven Claret shirts in and around the area when the ball goes in, just a moment where we switched off and Exeter took full advantage.

Great performances across the park, Hoskins, Eppiah, Mills, Koike and Pinnock to name a few, but Appere was immense. His commitment, strength and vision was incredible. The ball in for Eppiah....  A great signing and money very well spent.

The atmosphere inside the stadium matched the game and the disappointment in the result was there for all to see, but I think we have a group of players who will go out at Barrow next week to get the result we need. If you'd have said we would be in this position back in August, or even just before Easter, I'd have taken that.

A number of the lads don't seem to trust their shooting boots - Pinnock and Hoskins notable exceptions (9 and 11 league goals respectively).

Great game yesterday. I think a point per side was a fair result against a very good Exeter side. It's only in the last few games that I've really felt we are good enough to go up and if we kept this team - with a couple of tweaks - we could hold our own in League 1.

Autos still possible but personally I think the playoffs are more likely, even if we win at Barrow. However, we've got momentum on our side even if we have to take that route. Full credit to JB and his management team. I think we're finally starting to see the promised bums off seats football we were hoping for, but even when we weren't, they kept us in the hunt.

Very readable alongside Grumpy’s Report and some others too.
I left thinking it was two points dropped ; suppose a fair result all the same. Defence played well and having nightmares on Eppiahs miss!

I think quite a few of us underestimated their spirit. Mostly because we were concentrating on them taking their foot off the gas due to already being promoted. Obviously going up as champions meant equally as much.

Exeter's supporters must have given them quite a lift. I would prefer it if smoke canisters weren't thrown on the pitch but the vast majority got behind their team. You could tell we were the more nervous and hence quieter.
