Congratulations to Guthrie who gets in, but bemused that Roberts was overlooked.

Agree.
Roberts is baffling...
Goals conceded - 36 vs 52
Clean sheets - 21 (1st) vs 12 (14th)
Save % - 76.7 vs 74.3

Wollacott saved a penalty though

Not unhappy that Roberts and Horsfall didn’t make team of the season despite probably both deserving to. With both out of contract the extra attention from being selected might have hurt the chances of them resigning for the club.

Was going to look up those stats when I got 5 minutes so thanks for saving me the effort!  It's a pretty stark comparison and as you say baffling that Roberts was overlooked. You'd have thought 13 assists and 7 goals might have seen Pinnock somewhere near too, although he's a more understandable omission as he's a bit inconsistent.

Goals not conceded and goals scored.

Roberts, Guthrie and Horsfall should be the central defensive core of the L2 Team of the year.

I'm not sure but its not the PFA Awards which is seen as the gold standard awards...so I wouldn't read too much into this awards night....

the EFL seems to be based around more well known players to showcase their own leagues rather being based on how good the players were, hence Joe Wollacott (Ghana international) over Roberts

I'd be stunned if there has been a better and more consistent goalkeeper than Roberts in this league.

On all the key stats for a keeper surely he's head and shoulders above others.

Part of it is we had very obvious strengths and weaknesses, in defence and attack, and they were far more balanced teams which is why overall they ended up doing better than us. Does mean that its easy to justify the 3 inclusions.

Not sure of your reasoning as BR were basically promoted due to outlandish result last game of season. 7-0 at home says it all for me and against a side with a young 17yr old in goal. Difficult to make it up.
