I can't stand Joey Barton, mainly due to his antics off the pitch rather than those on it; he's a decent player, just not a decent person.
Gervinho deserved to get sent off yesterday for that slap, but I don't think Barton conducted himself in the most dignified manner to see that he was.
If Brady and co don't work out then I wouldn't want Campbell (arrogant and delusional) or Barton (a nasty piece of work and an outright scumbag).
Joey Barton is a degenerate thug whose very presence demeans our game. I'd be ashamed to have him associated with my club and the Bristol fans who were singing his name the day after there had been court proceedings involving him assaulting his wife should have a long, hard look at themselves. No sour grapes there as our overall performance didn't warrant a win, I've always despised the man, and I use the word "man" in the loosest possible sense.
I thought I'd put all that there to show that I've always been consistent in my opinion of Joey Barton and this isn't sour grapes speaking - I genuinely don't understand why any club would touch the little rodent. Yes, he's done well with Bristol this year but it's the baggage he brings and the circus that he'll inevitably kick off at some point. That's doubly true at the moment while there's an unresolved court case about domestic violence hanging over his head. If I was a Burnley fan I'd be making my views abundantly clear before any appointment is made.
