I was about to say, who is this new player called Keeper? It'll be 'Midweek Maxted' tomorrow will it not?

I’m going to go for something wild, which will never happen, but I’d be interested to see based on Saturdays performance. Haynes starting at left back, with Koiki moving in a bit and forward a bit. Gives us the benefit of 5 defenders on the pitch, which should help with added coverage for Magloire at the back, and gives Koiki more licence to drive forward inside, which he seems to prefer that sticking to his wing. Also gives Haynes a start which I think he’s earned. Sowerby has been a bit meh for me so far, so would be interested to see what the team would be like with Leonard instead. Would add in a player that can play through the midfield, and we’d still have defensive midfield coverage in Koiki and McWilliams. Could swap Leonard for Fox potentially. I’d drop Pinnock for this one as I feel he’s been off of the pace this season. To give him some time off to recover from his boozy off season, and maybe a kick up the backside. Bowie has earned a start. I’d also leave Appere in the bench to start with as he’s been a bit off of the pace, even though he’s scored a couple and I really like him. I think that Bowie and Hoskins would work better playing off of Hylton flick ons and knock downs.

Bulge Lintott Magloire Guthrie Koiki
Fox Mcwilliams Leonard
Hoskins Bowie Hylton
Crawly have looked pretty woeful this season. Limited to long range efforts and lofted balls into the box which I think we should be able to deal with.
I would like to see us transition quickly and get Bowie and Hoskins running with the ball.

Good to see the great Bulge making the starting line-up.

I'm amazed how Magloire has escaped with such little criticism for his last 3 performances. I suppose by scoring on Saturday and largely being in a winning team has helped. I can't think of many worse centre back appearances. He looks absolutely clueless. We're very lucky he hasn't cost us more points. He's poor in the air, can't read the game, over commits, gets bullied by strikers. His only saving grace is that he has pace. This is only useful when he's caught out high up the pitch with enough room to make up ground. I really liked the look of dyche when I saw him briefly last season. To me he looks like the reverse of Magloire. He looked a proper footballer- didn't look quick though. Anyway, I'd be feeling very hard done by being dyche watching Magloire from the bench.

He has escaped criticism because not that many agree with you! No pack drill but are you Mysterious Curle in disguise?

Personally I think he has been very shakey but much improved at centre back. I am of the understanding that Sherring is currently injured and watching the Crawley highlights from this season and late preseason they seem to loft a lot of crosses into the box so would go with the Magloire as he is bigger. I think Dyche has suffered because he probably would have got a game against Wycombe if Magloire had not been shakey, I imagine Brady wanted to give him a game in his natural position to build confidence. Although I may be wrong. I certainly think he was left on too long against Colchester.

Might as well keep it all in one thread....here is your stat filled preview for tomorrows game.
Crawley have one draw and two defeats from their three games so far this season, the point coming on Saturday thanks to a goalless draw at Harrogate. Goals have been at a premium in all their games so far, two 1-0 defeats to open the season (away at Carlisle and then home against Orient) followed up by a single goal victory over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup, a win which has earned then a home tie against Fulham in round 2.
Tom Nichols was the scorer of that goal in the Cup win, their only goal to date this campaign. He did notch up 10 goals last season too and has a decent return of 84 goals in 394 career appearances. Ashley Nadesan has started up front alongside him this season, he scored nine last season and they also have in their ranks Kwesi Appiah and perhaps one of the most surprising signings of the summer League 2 Golden Boot winner Dom Telford who joined from Newport where he scored 26 times last season. Telford appeared in the first two games but has not played in the last two due to injury.
Crawley's stuttering start to the season is slightly unexpected after summer investment following a takeover, the pressure may soon be on new manager Kevin Betsy who took over following the dismissal of John Yems.
A limited head to head between the two teams, due to Crawley's short league history. They did beat us in the FA Cup as a non-league side back in 1991, but since their entry into the League in 2011 we have met on 10 occasions, four wins for them with three for us and three draws. We claimed victories there in 2015 (2-1 win with goals from Byrom and O'Toole) and in 2018 thanks to a Van Veen penalty. Our last two visits have brought less success though.....a 4-0 trouncing on Boxing Day 2019 with the most recent game being a goalless draw just under 12 months ago in front of 2,254 fans.
Referee for the game is Stephen Martin. He has taken charge of two Championship games this season including Rotherhams 4-0 win over Reading on Saturday. The majority of his games over the last few seasons hacve been in the Championship however he did take charge of our 3-2 win over Tranmere at Sixfields in March. He's been on the League circuit for 11 years and dished out a reasonably low 99 yellow cards and 4 reds in his 34 games last season.

Nope. I don't know who mysterious curle is. My name's Will, nice to meet you. I guess we all see things differently. I'd be very interested to see Magloire's key stats from the weekend. Aerial dual percentage, pass accuracy, etc. I'd be amazed if they make good reading. Anyway, I don't want any of our players to do badly, so fingers crossed you're right and I'm wrong!

2 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats from our 6 visits to Crawley and the most memorable thing is we have come away with 3 long term injuries, let's hope history does not repeat itself tomorrow. As GPC said the only goal they have scored is their 1-0 win in the EFL cup against Bristol Rovers (good result) but they have not scored in any of their 3 league games but we so far have not kept a clean sheet, so something has to give. One of their fans posted that in those 3 games they have managed only 4 shots on target and also they have an injury crises at centre back. At least we have an experienced referee who as GPC says has mostly been operating in the Championship and we last had for our home game against Tranmere when we had a crowd of 7379 for our 125th anniversary game. I posted my suggested team earlier in the thread but it would be extremely disappointing to leave Crawley empty handed and I don't expect us to.

Ive just wasted an hour of my life I won't get bak looking at the Crawley forum. If the team are anything like the forum we can claim a 5-0 win easily. They are ridiculously overopimistic and unrealistic. I hope we can play well tomorrow, won't be there but I'll be watching. https://ctfcfansforum.freeforums.net/

I agree with you about Magloire tbh. I was probably in the minority that didnt think we was that great in his loan spell. Im not gonna start getting on his back or anything, i just dont think he is that great at a CB. To me it looks like he relies on his pace to make up for his poor decision making, its a huge asset to have but its going to cause us problems if hes playing in a back 4. He does not seem to know when to make a challenge or when just to jockey and has had several lapses of concentration already. Hopefully he continues to progress and he does have electric pace, but i think hes clearly far far more suited in a back 2. In term of his key stats as you said, he wont 2/8 of his aerial duels. He completed 34 of 42 passes, with 5 out of 10 long passes completed. Not everyone needs to be unbelievable aerially dominant, they can make up for it with other assets. Sherring definitely has better passing but Maglore has the pace. Could see a back 3 suiting them all the best but dont think that helps us going forward. A delicate balance! One thing that is for sure is that the Brady bunch have improved lots of CB's already so definitely possible the same happens with Magloire.

Thanks for the stats. Certainly hope he does well here. His form against Colchester was a bit patching but better against HUFC ,,,IMO! What is encouraging he shows some decent touches which had the North End of the West purring with appreciation. However a few groans surfaced when he did a misplaced pass or two! l like him as a player so judgement might be clouded!

In my later years I moved to CB from CM, I'm only 5'10" but there were very few forwards who beat me in the air. A lot to do with technique and a bit of experienced 'guile'.
