Incredible engineering and technology. If you'd seen that in a movie a couple of years back you would have said it was far fetched. A snip too at up to £10b. I'd love to come back to see the true value of these missions. It'll be a very different place (if the planet is still here) for our grand children and their kids.
One of the Swedish lads that I was working for in London, went to see the first Falcon heavy launch with the twin boosters landing in 2018. (he didnt shut up about it for weeks after!) Now its just routine. Bring on the next six years and see where we are at.

No opinions about Muskys space project then? Or does it go against your eco-warrier principles, and lets invest in wind power ideology? Stop hugging trees, strike Swampy off of your FB friends, and put down your orange shirt and superglue. Change is coming my friend. And not just having carrots instead of peas with your fish'n'chips.

And not just having carrots instead of peas with your fish'n'chips. I know some people get very wowed by space travel and the great unknown out there. It is also great that very clever people can find answers to the mysteries of the universe. There are no doubt some great technological advances made for ordinary people that have come from space travel, even satellite technology is useful to mere mortals like me. However, I am not particularly interested in space travel, there are plenty of mysteries on this planet to resolve and those great minds could be put to finding solutions to the problems we have to deal with here. With my "ecowarrior" hat on, what a huge waste of fossil fuel everytime they take off and on the production (although good they are recycling more and more). Those that take off then explode might be a success in research terms, but a huge waste of resource. In terms of the wind farm technology, part of what I am involved in on the qualification side of my work, rather than training means that I get a bit of an insight into the renewal energy world. What is happening out on Dogger Bank puts the UK at the forefront of World windpower production. Wait and see, these are the solutions we need to keep ourselves going, rather than having to move to another planet and mess that one up too. PS With regards Musk, he's a crackpot, I would rather have nothing to do with anything he is involved in. PPS Swampy isn't a Facebook friend, but I got a Friend request this week from one of only 12 living people to have climbed all 14 of the 8000m+ summits, the only British person to have done it. The Messi of the mountaineering world.

Renewable energy is an expensive waste of time, it all has to be matched by gas peaker plants in case the wind doesn’t blow or there isn’t enough sun. The only long term solution to carbon free power is Nuke. Milliband and is a crackpot, he should stick to eating bacon sandwiches, people would take him more seriously

I also think that Musk is a bit unhinged, but at least he puts his money where his very large mouth is. And I think that long term, there is a lot more to be gained from space research than a few windmills. Who knows, we could soon have some form of zero gravity propulsion, which would knock Windy Miller out of business. I never saw the point of extreme mountaineering myself, but each to their own. And I think that Evers has more FB friends than me! PS. Ed Miliband is also a crackpot, and will bankrupt the country if he has his own way. And he looks like a Wallace and Gromit character.
