It's a funny one this. The way Sunak has run his campaign (social media usage etc) suggests to me he is probably savvy enough to win a general election by swaying a good chunk of the millennial/gen z demographic. Unfortunately that's not the make up of the core Conservative party membership he needs to win over in the first place. His message is not so much falling on deaf ears as resonating in a frequency they don't even know exists. Plus, and there's no nice way to put this, I fear he's a bit too, well, dark skinned for a lot of the blue rinse brigade. A shame that's still a factor in this day and age but I'd lay good money on it being at the front of a load of the old biddies minds.
So instead I think Truss will win comfortably by channeling the spirit of Maggie. She'll then be singularly charmless and unlikeable to the extent all Keir Starmer will have to do is effectively keep his mouth shut, not say anything controversial and walk the next election by simply being "not her"!
Turkeys voting for Christmas comes to mind...
If Bingers is going to say "I told you so" then I'm going to join in too because the 33 point Labour lead reported in the polls this morning suggests Starmer has the next election in the bag already!
I was also right on the "singularly charmless and unlikeable" front but I think we can safely add "stupid, arrogant and useless" to the list of negative attributes. Sunak would have been a far safer pair of hands. Come to that, and this is saying something, so would Boris! At least he only
played the buffoon...
