I see the charge is now out - 200 plus bets over 4 years, it’s actually only one per week so hardly a betting obsession. The fact the FA have this level of detail would suggest he had an account as I can’t see anyone grassing him up that many times on single events. Unfortunately if he didn’t know or ignored the rules he will still have to take the consequences and I’m sympathetic despite what was said it undoubtedly contributed to him not going to Qatar - whilst I understand why the rules are in place it frustrates me how much betting companies are involved in football which I think poses a much bigger risk than Ivan having a weekly bet.

His full name is Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney. Thus his initials are, IBET.
That should be his on his number plate.  Grin

I've got some sympathy for him. It's not like he has been cheating and nor is there any suggestion that he's done anything untoward around influencing results; he's just had a bit of a flutter.

Rules are rules and he should have known better, but he's been a bit silly rather than naughty.

I seem to remember that he also considered the law on driving before passing the driving test, as more guidelines than actual laws.

Silly lad could ruin any chance of playing for England

I wonder if he gets banned what type of ban it would be

Apparently, Kieran Trippier received a ten week ban and £70,000 fine for four breaches of the rules.

Obviously not.

Not sure what eventually happened as the charge was "suspended" on appeal. The point I was making was that the FA has clearly set out its approach and set a precedent with regard to punishment.

England have picked convicted criminals who have served their sentence in the past.

Come on, betting every week may not be an obsession but it's certainly on the track towards it. I cant believe he didn't know it was against the rules. I guess the amount of money involved rather than than the number of individual bets wil be a major factor in this.

But a but surprised Southgate did it after he has pleaded guilty and faces a ban
