We should have kept it. It's very pretty.
Well on that basis, perhaps we should give away Peterborough, Barrow, Gillingham and various other ărse end of nowhere locations. Mind you, who would want ownership of Børø?

We gave Peterborough away in 1974. Keep up.

Starmers getting a bit of a rough ride, from the Red tops, and the broadsheets today, after his shameful decision to surrender our territory to an allie of China. Its taken the attention away from the upcoming budget, and winter fuel payments though. And the super******tion that we are not allowed to mention. So Im not going to.

I had another experience with the NHS this weekend. My dad has been pretty immobile over the last few weeks due to a problem with his back. As a result he's got a lot of swelling on his lower legs. He's been seen by a nurse and it's being treated.
When we went to see him on Sunday he asked if we could look at his legs as they'd become red and inflamed. My wife (who is a nurse) took one look and said "That's cellulitis, he needs antibiotics"
Her view was that, had it been a normal weekend, that he should wait until Monday and call the GP. As it was a bank Holiday though, she felt it would be a mistake to wait that long in case the infection spread, so we called 111.
We then had:
An initial conversation with the triage person.
A subsequent call with a practitioner.
A further call from a doctor
And finally a visit to the house from 2 on call doctors.
They concluded it was cellulitis and issued antibiotics.
In many ways it was excellent service - everyone I spoke to was polite, professional and competent, we received a home visit and were given medication then and there without the need to visit a pharmacy, all at zero cost and within about 6 hours.
That said, it took 4 lengthy phone calls and a visit to reach the same diagnosis my wife had provided in 5 seconds. In this day and age, you'd think this type of thing could be expedited by the use of video calls, without tying up multiple health professionals over the course of the afternoon and evening.

During the lockdown in 2020 we did most of our GP consultations via mobile phone and tablet, they would ask to view an area of anatomy via the camera if required. It was difficult if it was an intimate area of the body or the patient wasn't very mobile, much better if the clinician can assess the problem face to face

After a week of submitting BP readings (4 weeks ago), I got my telephone call a month later to tell me he wanted me to join the masses on medication for it. I'm glad he took the decision out of my hands, as I usually get "you COULD try medication, it's up to you". It is better to be told, you are supposed to be the medical professional! The good news is I survived the 4 weeks. I have noticed it drops right down to normal when I not at work, so there lays the answer. I guess I could have pursued it via a private doctor but the prescription would have probably been more than a tenner. Seem to be the way when you want the good sh*t. Hope your dad is doing well BOTN. Sounds as though we are both in a similar position with our parents. Stubborn as hell! Mine is on his second round of antibiotics for bladder cancer treatment (he was clear but now planned for another biopsy after his latest probe) but he will suffer in silence rather than actively ask for help, until he is that poorly that my mum steps in and calls a paramedic. Then I get told the next day!

Sounds familiar. My dad isn't one for making a fuss and just gets on with things. He's missed the last 4 or 5 home matches though, so you know he's feeling bad!
