Perhaps he is but the one thing which negates his comments is the form of players, that is continued good form. I expect you have noticed his predilection of making some rather insensitive personal comments on players. Now we hear some of the players are specifically are over-weight, a claim which I found surprising. So I checked with a Fitness Coach at a prominent Northampton School and he pointed to the evidence of recent results which belay the overweight claim. Sowerby has always had a chunky build but he was sorely missed for the first half today, as for McGowan he has just recovered from a serious injury but even so did not appear overweight as to cause alarm. In fact he put in a gritty performance, not his best by all means. It's a pity by your own admittance that you don't go to matches as your opinion might be useful on here? You are of course fully entitled to an opinion just consider to be ready to debate it! Join in 'Jims Teyn Coaches' and have a great day out at Stockport,
It was Tel who mentioned them being overweight not Mysterious. I don't agree with his/her generally negative posts (Mysterious) but there is no need to accuse him/her of saying something he/she didn't say.

When I have a Saturday birthday I always know the result will go against us. Six years ago it was even worse. 7th Jan 2017 - Bristol Rovers 5 Cobblers 0 And we all know the famous interview and sacking after that game. Maybe, if I'm still here in 2029 we'll get better luck, but I doubt it

And a right back that isn’t significantly overweight!?
Personally didn't think that McGowan was not significantly overweight. Tel was also calling for a more gritty performance which is a reasonable comment but thought McGowan put himself about and did not shirk challenges. MC comment above is clearly aimed at McGowan.

I stand corrected, Mysterious did mention an overweight player. Thanks for correcting my error. That post you highlighted has now been deleted

No, I think Mysterious has deleted the post you highlighted, about McGowan.

My viewpoint is lack of tackling and being too lightweight. Why do we allow teams to run at our defence and cause sup problems. We should tackle in their half, not on our goal line. Also too slow getting ball from back to the front men. Too much side to side at the back allowing opponents to re-organise, so no catching them on the break on 1 to 1s! But that is only my opinion!!

Very poor from McGowan
Not sure why you’ve name dropped sherring there, it’s McGowan’s side and he’s been the weak link, highlighted by their second goal!
Mcgowan has looked really slow trying to get back
McGowan looks like he's running through treacle every time he tracks back
McGowan needs to lose some weight. He looks like Mr Blobby.
McGowan does look overweight. Where as Maxted looks clinically obese. What’s going on there 😀
He's forgotten his gentleman's abdominal support.
McGowan is awful, and now we have a Teletubby in goal, but its the refs fault.
Nevers, whilst I love living rent free in your head I’ve highlighted the above so you can give a number of other posters a public dressing down where they’ve highlighted McGowans performance, weight and pace issues. No doubt they would all love to hear about your conversation with the fitness coach at the prominent Northampton School… Whilst I’m not a fitness coach from a prominent Northampton School, I think it’s pretty obvious he’s struggling with weight and its impacting ability to perform his job. Visually there is a stark different between his circumference from this time last year, that cannot be denied. He's been back playing in the first team for 11 weeks post injury, so you can’t hide behind that as an excuse.

The second goal was very poor from us and wouldn’t have happened if Mcwilliams and Sowerby were in midfield . The first goal , we didn’t win the first or second ball . That’s why we lost - control the controllables not the referee . Also , Pinnock is a shadow of himself currently and Hylton hasn’t turned up . Never mind new signings , we need Sowerby , McWilliams , Magloire , Appere and Koiki fit to maintain the challenge .

You 'didn't think that McGowan was not significantly overweight'? Give this man a Torrone hit.

I do wonder how much you can draw from that first half. The pitch was horrendous and it was like bambi on ice, both teams could barely stand up and pass to a player in their own colours. I’m not letting our team off of responsibility as we should have adapted to the conditions much better as Salford did who were far superior. It definitely seemed as the pitch dried out we were able to play to our normal game and had the better of the match. In the future we need to adapt our game much quicker but chances are we won’t play on a pitch like that for the rest of the season.

No surprise that we lose and the match day thread runs into multiple pages. At least it gives our resident "always look on the bright side of life" Victor Meldrew the chance to vent his spleen but he still does that when we win. I was quite amused by the comment "20 minutes left and we have no out and out striker on the pitch, 2 sitting on the bench", Bowie was playing as an "out and out striker" through the middle and the 2 sitting on the bench were the prolific Hylton (what a difference he made when he came on) and Appere who said poster has constantly berated for having so few shots at goal.
Yes, the pitch was terrible and the game was in doubt of being played but we were terrible in the first half and without McWilliams and Sowerby they poured through the midfield and were getting far too many shots away and we were thankful for their 'keepers howler for our goal. Their second goal was awful as after Hoskins lost possession Watson was allowed to run from one penalty area to the other unchallenged and our defence was outnumbered.
A number of players are coming in for criticism, McGowan has had a very long time out with injury and is taking a while to reach the kind of performance we saw regularly saw last season but I have no doubt he will be one of the players JB referred to when he said he was looking at extending more of our existing players contracts. For some reason JB keeps switching Pinnock into the centre where he has never been as good as out wide. Magloire's injury is a blow as Sherring's recent performances have taken a dip.
Unfortunately Appere, who has been playing well, was not fit enough to start but given another week ought to be back next week and the same should apply to Sowerby. Presumably Appere would replace Bowie but I am unsure who drops out to bring Sowerby back, it would be tough on Eppiah to leave him out.
If Bradford beat Rochdale on Tuesday night they will be 4 points behind us with a game in hand but I would rather be in our position than any of the chasing pack and no doubt they also would.

I’m not sure who you’re talking to but certainly not the nicest way to talk to a fellow supporter. For the record, Bowie is an ‘attacker’ rather than a ‘centre forward’ hence why more often than not he is played wide in a front 3 - but hey, don’t let facts get in the way of a good story.

I was asking Worthless Recluse, not you, as I feel that he may have an interest in pies, and also anything associated with the groin area.
Didn't go Tabasco. Sat around the house all day instead, mostly w*nking.

I agree that Bowie is often played out wide on the right when Appere is in the starting 11 but yesterday he was playing as an out and out striker down the middle and arguably some of his better performances have been in this role. However, yesterday was not one of his better games.

Ooooohhhhh, bit of politics from Evers on a football thread. Can I just ask which bit of messing up the country's economy could be interpreted as a virtuous error? Best put your answer on the Politics thread in General Chat so we don't upset the self appointed unofficial moderators.

Yeah apparently he ruptured a quarter pounder and extra large fries, although Maxted said he should be back next week after sharing a rack of lamb with him after the match.

So what’s your point? Your latest post doesn’t match the narrative of your original post. It sounds like for all intents and purposes you’ve agreed Bowie isn’t a centre forward and you’ve added that he didn’t play every well yesterday.
