The 'rat' is leaving the sinking ship.  Tongue

I don't mind him TBF but he seems to polarise opinion. I'm sure he will continue a successful career as long as he wishes to.

He’s not bad at his proper job albeit overpaid IMO, but you simply can’t make statements, opinions or mistakes that he has been doing whilst working for a publicly funded organisation- it’s the same principle with company directors of listed companies, local councillors or indeed even out own Trust Board members making comments “as personal opinions” - fairly or unfairly it is always associated back to the organisation you represent.

I didn't realise GL had his own thread - is there anything in the whole wide world that doesn't?

I'd suggest the price of pump outs but that might be a bit esoteric for most of ya.

I like GL a lot, and agree with 99% of what he says, but I don't think any BBC journalist should be on any social media platform..

The BBC remains one of the few truly great institutions in/of the UK..to me a key part of this greatness should be it's impartiality..

Typical right wing- all in favour of free speech until they don't agree with it.

I can’t understand these over opinionated people who can’t seem to keep their mouths shut on social media.

Yup. There are certain positions where your personal views on certain matters can't be distinguished from your organisation's views, and if those views are at odds with your organisation's then your position becomes untenable.

Agreed but I think in this case unless it’s a fundamental humanitarian issue (itself fraught with nuances) the BBC shouldn’t have a view.

Nothing will happen and nor should it. No doubt lots reported it because of who he is, as opposed to the post itself. Can you imagine the kind of precedent any action would make if you were in serious bother for an emoji. The press love having a field day with any sniff of controversy. They may as well throw the book at all of us, including many posts seen on here. Exactly the same happened after Danny Bakers tweet.

It's not as though he encouraged people to set fire to hotels, although I guess a few people would love to see GL getting 31 months.

Sorry mate you are wrong on this one, he posted a pro Hamas video and the emoji of a rat which I’d highly offensive to Jews, he knew fair well what he was doing, he’s been sacked by the BBC and I hope he gets 6 months in solitary confinement and a further 6 months as big Tyrone’s bitch, oh and he shît himself.

Me or Tyrone?

Anyone who may have been 'genuinely' upset by a mistaken deleted post from one of the most liberal thinking high profile people out there. I mean, he REALLY cared when Gazza was crying.
If they want him shown the book for being a bit of a c*ck at times, fair enough, which is what it's about.
I think we could have THE hitlist of those deserving a bit of jail time if that is the bar.
Danny Baker posting a mixed race baby as a chimp probably deserved life. I guess it's the way the world is turning.

I liked his quip "I was born to be in the box, learnt to be on the box and will soon be in a box."
