I dunno about being a bottle of fizzy pop, based on today's debut I'd say he's more like a box of angry fire ants.  From bellowing at a ball boy for taking too long giving him the ball back to his running battle with Jacobson, he looks like a booking waiting to happen.  Short man syndrome, anyone?  Grin Grin

I liked what I saw of Uwezu yesterday. Reminded me of Derek Asamoah. Looked eager, got in their faces and had pace to burn. Nearly created a goal after beating two players down the right. One I'd like to see given a couple more chances before the season is out.

Can somebody please explain why he got brought off after about half an hour? He only came on at half-time so he couldn't have been tired. He looked like he was actually very quick, even more so than Herbert before he got injured. Admittedly, Uwezu's end product and technical ability could be better, these sort of things can be improved with time whereas pace tends to be something that you have or not.

Not that it will happen, but I'd like to see Uwezu start against Stockport on monday, either up front with Harrad, Bauza, or McKenzie (assuming we play a 4-4-2), or on the right wing in place of Rodgers (who was disappointing last night after a good performance against Wycombe). Whilst above I have said Uwezu isn't technically great, Stockport are the worst team in the division, and I assume that they're defence is worse than ours, so if we had someone with raw pace, then Uwezu is going to expose the defence time and time again, in a similar way to Ajose did to us against Bury.

Take a chance Johnson!

Yeah, he came over to he dugout and told Johnson that his hamstring felt tight so if they were going to make a sub keep it in mind.

Then when they brought on Holty the logical choice to take off would be the fella with the injury concern

Oh, ok. When he got brought off, the majority of the people sitting near me were also confused and annoyed at the sub. Additionally, when I saw him come off, he had a bit of a discussion with GJ, so I thought that it was because he was annoyed at being brought off. I hope he recovers enough to be involved either on monday or against Stevenage, even if it is from the bench.

The radio commentary described him as "a speedboat without the driver" - somehow i get the impression they're not far wrong, still it was his control and shot that hit the post for Leon to score, so credit where its due.

Any news on him either being retained or released yet?

With the signing of Bayo and Robinson as well as having Purcell come back at some point, as well as McKay and Harrad still being around, I imagine that Uwezu will be released but still no news yet from any official source.

He was released at the end of the season. The idea was he'd come back for pre-season training and then take things from there, although with nothing concrete to talk about I get the impression he's trying his luck elsewhere. Not sure why his name is still on the official site though.

I'd imagine that he is training with the squad and as such, still part of the squad. Hence being on the offy site. Think he may have another week to prove himself yet

Being on the official site is a bit meaningless. Here's the evidence.

http://www.ntfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10425~51932,00.html - Alistair Slowe

http://www.ntfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10425~32385,00.html - Bradley Johnson

http://www.ntfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10425~21903,00.html - Fred Murray

http://www.ntfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10425~10124,00.html - Josh Low

None of those players play for us anymore, yet are still easily findable on the official site.

No, Uwezu is still listed on the first squad list.

I imagine it's because he wasn't officially announced as having left the club, so the site maintainer simply forgot to remove his link. Our OS is probably looked after by a single person who is probably not immune from making mistakes.

Can we also assume that all those offered new deals signed them? I don't remember reading anything official.
