Who's going? I am.
Who's playing? Apart from Burge it could be any of the remainder of the squad, injuries permitting?
What'll the weather be like? Looks like lots of rain?
How many will make the short trip from Stevenage? Possibly a full 1400?

When the fixtures first came out I was delighted this was our first home game, a chance to start off on the right foot against what will be almost certainly one of our easiest fixtures of the season, especially against a side still gelling with several new players. Now I'm not so sure, we lose this and already the dark clouds will be seen on the horizon. I look forward to this to see all our new players (I think his names Simpson  Tongue), with more trepidation that excitement.

I'll be watching, with a fantastic view from the comfort of my sofa, so the weather is irrelevant. UTC.

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!

We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

Not to be missed Richard, even with Railway problems of an overtime ban , this week! & Will I be travelling up from Herts with any Stevenage fans?  Unlikely.

Only got to one Friendly match .....seems a long time since Tranmere.

Just looked and we've played Stevenage 17 times and only lost once, NEVER at home. We must be their bogie side. The 3 points will be most welcome.

I dreamt that Hoskins scored the first goal in league one.

Northampton 2 - 1 Stevenage
Hoskins in the first 5 mins

Have to be positive going into a new season following promotion and with a settled squad. How many times do you go into the first game not knowing half of the players?! It often feels like you are supporting a new team.
A point or three on opening day and we’ll be off.
I reckon we are going to be just fine and getting back some of the crocks will be like new signings.

I see the 3 sections of the east stand that are closest to the south stand are not for sale, so my immediate thought was that Stevenage had sold out the south and asked for extra in the east. But looking on the Stevenage forum at their match day prediction thread most are predicting an away support between 450 - 650 so it looks like it will be a long way from a sell out if they can't fill the south.

Summer holiday time so not surprised if the attendance suffers. Even more important to make a good start and tempt them in.

Looking forward to the new season because -

We're newly promoted
We're currently joint top of League 1
If we carry on like this we could win the league
Even if we slip up there's still the play offs
Relegated? No chance!

We are football fans, this is how we are!
and not just us, the fans of every club are the same.
For this week anyway!

I'm old fashioned and believe the football season should not start until September 1st, after most people's holiday.
Having said that I'll be there with my son and with my 4 year old grandson, who is coming to his first Cobblers game!

I would say Stevenage being Stevenage has far more to do with them or us not selling out. On the back of glory hunting and promotion (the Villa Park win was very fresh when we played them at Sixfields) last season, only league game they have ever brought anything close to a sell out allocation in my memory!

I can't think of another manager I dislike as much as Steve Evans. Didn't he once describe us as a pub team when he was managing Crawley!!

You may wish to add Keith Hill to the list although I am not sure if he is a manager currently.
