He’s nowhere near as good as Maloney, cost us dear today.

Wonder how he feels that you two experts can't spell his name correctly.

I agree Moloney was driving different gravy. I only remember him being roasted once, against a winger called Nathan Thomas, who Wilder ended up signing. So he must have made an impression.

I was quite surprised when I saw that there had been as many as 41 shots in the game, we won't have as many as 17 very often.

True.

Apologies for not joining the thread, had just descended the mountain to a lake when Super Sam scored and the water was more inviting than joining you, so I had a swim instead. Then no Internet by the time I got back to the car.

There'll be more Super Sam goals to celebrate and hopefully some will be meaningful. 19 to go. Do free kicks count?

I know you like trying to wind me up by playing dumb (there really is no need to try) but you know as well as I do that Hoskins superb free kick (reminded me of Matt Taylor) will, in the grand scheme of things be meaningless unless by some fluke at the end of the season we stay up on goal difference by one goal.

Lets hope the next Hoskins goal actually helps us gain some points. Maybe tomorrow night?

Made me think of the recent Messi ones…although I don’t think Hoskins cheated by moving the ball.
They are all meaningful, especially if no one else is going to bother scoring.
There is no goal scoring chart for the importance and relevance of goals, especially if you have to wait until the end of the season to find out…unless you make one up of course for the purposes of a row.  Grin

😘

Actually the free kick question was more for Fenners, as I think it was he who once said that penalties didn't count, but it was back in the days when he was a non-believer and hadn't seen the light shining out of Super Sam's årse.

Marvo, as you were not at Wigan (no I-player doesn't count) you appear in your lets have a pop at Bingers, or anyone who might rate Hoskins, to have conveniently omitted his line 'goals to celebrate'...thus missing the unconfined ecstacy that those in the away section on Saturday, experienced!

Doubt anyone leaping around with joy for those moments, thought Hoskins has saved our League One existence with what was a brilliantly taken free kick!

Don't bring me into it. That, or any other free kick, has absolutely no correlation to penalties. I'd ask you to keep your extremely tenuous links under control.

Especially being sat directly behind the goal and saying "Sammy, top corner" (out loud) just before he did.  Wink (although I do that for most of them)  Smiley

Moments like that and hopefully many more, help to justify the season long journeys to all parts of the country, during a season that we all expect to be 'difficult'.
It's one of the reasons we continue to do what we do over the many many years.
Like the club golfer who has a terrible round but hits one of his/her/they 100+ shots so well, that Tiger would have been proud of ... it's one of the reasons we play the game.

You can say what you like about the goal and your celebrations, I'd have preferred an own goal by a Wigan player that gave us the three points in a drab, boring, backs to the wall defensive effort. Hey, but that's me.

So if you'd been there you wouldn't have celebrated taking the lead?

Would you have just sat on your hands until the final whistle?

That has nothing to do with the point I was making.

I thought it was a superb free-kick but I'd rather have the 3 points.

Agreed, I was very disappointed that it didn't bring us the three points, but we enjoyed the moment up until Wigan p*ssed on our chips.  Grin

And quite right too. 3 points is where its at. If at the end of the season our " 20 goal a season striker" is og, but we stay up, that would do.

PS leave off hassling Marvo, he's a legend and we wouldn't be without him. Plus I love him and he loves me.
