Inspired by the 'Off Menu' podcast, somewhere to drop some food recommendations. I'm always on the look out for new places, which offers something you'd struggle to match at home. As a keen cook I don't like paying for anything you could knock up in 20 minutes.

Fast food:

theflavour trailer. I've used them a couple of times and the best burgers I've ever had. Great little local business that visit the surrounding areas. Give these guys your money before heading to Five Guys.

https://www.theflavourtrailer.com

Restaurants:

Karmana. An unlikely location and avoid if you can't eat a meal without having meat! Lovely, intimate couple run place, everything is fresh, absolutely delicious and good value.

Ascoughs. A bit further afield in Market Harborough but a MUST try. It is my favourite place and incredible value for this style of dining. I go every couple of months for the 6 course tasting menu with paired wines, currently £68 a head, so like most things gone up a little recently but you can do a two course lunch for £20. Sometimes it is nice to have a meal when you are in/out within an hour.
It's the type of meal that you'd pay £200+ for in London. Small independent and the kind of place that is busy on a Tuesday lunch time with the silver generation. Northampton is crying out for something so good, or if there is anything that can compete with this please let me know! Make sure you book.

Balti King used to be excellent, Burger Boi on the Welly Rd is meant to be "the bomb". And the recently revamped Old House gets good reviews

I can thoroughly recommend The Telegraph in Moulton. It's now under new ownership and I had a lovely meal there the other day.

The Whyte Melville in Boughton is also worth a visit.

+1 for the Whyte Melville. It also happens to be Calderwoods local.

I avoided Indian as it's an argument you'll never win! I don't think I've had any that are awful or amazing. Take away never travels well.
People seem loyal to their pick. Haven't been to BK for a year or two but you used to be able to walk out of there with change from £20 for a couple. Imrans, Lazeez, Mumtaz, Taste of Spice all decent.
I've tried a few in the Balti Triangle in Brum and wasn't that blown away.

One last touch Dav, I have never tried this place myself, but one of my mates raves about it. Apparently it keeps winning awards.  And its a decent run out in the Scooby.

Based on last night and tonight's Oreo Cheesecake (also known as Type 2 on a plate), I would like to nominate Mrs Bingers. Eaten outside in the late summer warmth as well, even oop narf.

+ 1 for Karmana.
Yumas is a great fast food option, although may have slightly gone downhill since they expanded, but still great burgers.

Saffron Bangladeshi and Nepalese on Castilian St is quite good.
Mamaris Turkish BBQ on St Giles St, is very good, but the sausages take five minutes.
Purple Ivy in Brixworth is excellent if you like Indian food.
Alicati is also a good Turkish on the High St in Dav.

Saffron is good. I'm still gutted that Mem Saab has closed.

Good shout for Purple Ivy, never tried that so I’ll check it out.
I’m personally not a fan of Alcati but I seem to be in the minority on that one with the locals.
Mamaris, yes!
