Swindon fan here.

We are separated by our colours and distance - apart from this we are the same.

This Morning one of your very best, Cobblers Phil (as he was known to me) lost his battle against Cancer.
You may know him as a wonderful lad who organised a coach from Daventry, he was from Woodford.

Like myself albeit one who shouted and screamed from the away end, Phil had his season ticket up the “other end.” He went everywhere, rocked up at Hartlepool on a Tuesday night in a meaningless JPT game - that was him a loyal Cobbler that went everywhere.

I felt compelled to come onto this Board as the enemy but today it was about having a kick around in no man’s land in memory of a very good friend who I have lost.⚽️

One of my best stories was I was with my lads having a meal with 3 Swindon players, one being Marc Richards who I was sitting next to. This was Phil’s favourite player.
I got Marc to phone him.
“Rockin Robin, what do you want?”
“No Mate, it’s Marc Richards.”
“Bollocks.”
The next 10 minutes I left them to it.
Later that night he called me and he was over the Moon as we say. Always talked about the story, that and the Akinfenwa Christmas card I made for him 😂

I will miss him, I will miss the goal alerts, the messages but above all I will miss Cobblers Phil a friend from another Club.

The song about the River Nene, sing it loud and proud because I will always remember that, we dedicated it to his late Dad who passed the religion down to him.
If our paths meet again no shame from one loyal Swindon fan with a tear in his eye if it comes from the “left seats.”

Best of luck for the season.
RIP Phil - never forgotten and may your spirit take to the stand in the sky over Sixfields and beyond.🙏

Wow. Very sad news indeed. An engaging charming man, even if he always wanted your money for the raffle tickets, on the coach! Always with a smile though. A sad loss, and my condolances to his family.

Heard about the raffle tickets.
His best Mate a Sunderland fan hitched a lift up to the SOL on his bus.
He was an absolute gentleman and legend. Will miss him.
Cobblers through and through all his life.

Phil is a man who I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for many years due to his CISC loyalty.

For anyone who didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him, he is one of the nicest men that I’ve known in my life.

He is a genuinely big loss and will be sadly missed.

Rest in peace Phil ❤️

Probably like many, I'm not aware of him by name but I would probably have recognised his face in amongst the Cobblers crowd.

Could well be.
Your Manager sent him a personal message a few weeks back, meant so much to him.
You would recognise him, a true lifer, every game until the bastard disease took hold of him.

Lovely post Mate.
Met him the first time at a music gig, introduced by the Sunderland fan I mentioned in the above post. As he quoted you two would just get on fine.
We did, one of those where you hit it off within minutes.
Always met up Cobblers v Swindon home and away.

You sum it up so well Dan - He was one of the very best.
Whenever I think of the Cobblers, will think of Phil. They were his life.❤️🍺

Cancer has no colours Mate. Stand together on this one.
I am sure your paths would have crossed. He went to every game.

You sound like a great bloke yourself, if you don't mind me saying.

Thanks for all your memories of Phil and hopefully the club will put something up in the coming days to let the wider fan base know of his passing.

RIP Phil.

Was Phil one of the Woodford lads who worked at BR Wolverton? Either way condolences to all who loved him, sounds like there were a lot.

Yes Mate a Woodford lad.
It was packed out. Loads of Cobblers and was introduced to many.
One of the very best and will be missed. A true loyal Cobbler and will miss our chats and goal alerts.
