Confirmed today.
Can’t blame him for that move at all, but think that could be a big blow for us.

Yes that’s a hammer blow to our survival chances I must admit. I’m sure some will try and put a positive spin on it… suppose it gives JB more of a creative license, as he can’t do anything wrong it may well be a positive.

Nothing against Colin, he has some excellent attributes, but I have always felt Sammo would be a better fit.

Let me make one thing absolutely clear, the Trust “advisor” is not god. Are you going to tell him or shall I?

Was he still our Head of Recruitment too? If so it's a double whammy

I was thinking the other day, when I saw all three of them together on the touchline, what a strong unit it looked having Brady alongside two former managers. A shame it won't continue. Calderwood, despite living in the area, seems to have a stronger desire to pursue differing opportunities, looking back at all the other jobs he's had. I have always felt Brady (and even Sampson) are different. There is a deeper connection to the area than Calderwood has, that I doubt would mean they'd do the same thing.

Massive massive blow to the club, there’s a reason Southampton want him because he is an excellent coach. Can’t blame him for wanting to better himself, don’t underestimate the impact this will have on Jon as well, we’ve reached our glass ceiling with the current owners, I’m sure the fact that we are struggling and have an uncompetitive budget swayed Colin’s decision. Good luck in your new role Colin you’ll be sorely missed.

Love a bit of sentiment but I feel this is a view through tinted glasses. Calderwood has gone as he’s a good coach with a proven track record. The other two nobody else is after. Both seem pretty limited and on the basis of having no other options they can’t really leave.

Based on what attributes? With a budget like ours it’s fundamental to have an experienced coach with a proven track record and extensive network. Without Calderwood the likes of Fulham, Brighton etc. wouldn’t be sending us some of their brightest prospects. Sampson and Brady have a good network and trust locally but unfortunately it’s not often we need to sign someone from Rushden or Brackley.

Think CC leaving will alert other clubs to JB He has done a great job here, achieved some unbelievable results. Even this season, we have not been hammered at all, with a budget designed to get us relegated again.

I know nobody can ever be good enough for you, but he was at least on Charlton's list for their new manager. There was definitely a worry from a number of people that he might have and might still leave.

His record at this point is worse than Keith Curle's!

It's easy to read too much into it but it could be quite telling. I doubt it is the first job CC has been offered but why take it now? He can probably see what is coming next and no doubt wants to maintain his reputation and stay in work. Whilst JB doesn't have a good L1 record, his previous two were outstanding. He is definitely still very employable IMO and think he'll have a career in management. As for the head of recruitment comment. If he was responsible for Hylton and Simpson that won't be a bad thing.
Anyway, does that mean we have some money to get some strikers now?

There's two parts to this in my opinion.
Ther's no way CC could turn this role down. It's simply too good an oportunity. Probably pays a good bit more as well. Good luck to him and thanks for all he has without doubt contributed to our recent success.
The problem for me is not losing what he brings to the club on the training ground and match days. WIth respect there are a lot of good experienced coaches out there. It's the important recruitment work he set up and was key in running. That will leave a big gap for me and something the club are going to have to work hard to fill.
JB already seems to be feeling the pressure so really hope he can get in the support he needs on both fronts.

Exactly this. JB would be a good option for someone in league 2 battling to get into the playoffs. The nonsense that he’s some sort of footballing genius that we unearthed from Brackley Town is wide of the mark.
